Doctor Sleep<\/a><\/em> may be the sequel to The Shining<\/em>, but it\u2019s still very much its own book: The horrors aren\u2019t just related to the Overlook Hotel and its ghosts, but also (spoiler alert) a roving pack of vampire-like creatures that feast on children who possess that psychic glimmer knowing as the shining. As such, the music for the upcoming film echoes the original Stanley Kubrick adaptation, but brings in its own special air of doom.<\/p>\n

Consequence of Sound<\/a> premiered two tracks scored by The Newton Brothers: \u201cThe Overlook,\u201d which takes us back to book one with a reprise of Wendy Carlos\u2019 theme for the 1980 flick, and \u201cThe Hat, the Snake and Dan,\u201d the title of which refers to both the vampiric villains of Doctor Sleep<\/em> and Dan Torrance, the now-grownup child from The Shining<\/em>.<\/p>\n
