The track follows her recent song <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mandy-moore-new-song-when-i-wasnt-watchin-885060\/\">\u201cWhen I Wasn\u2019t Watching\u201d<\/a> and both are expected to appear on her next album.<\/p>\n<p>On the acoustic guitar-driven track, Moore reflects on a relationship, singing, \u201cAre you happy with your life?\/ Am I happy with mine?\/ Where is the innocence we left behind?\u2019 And who were those kids\/ Who knew where to draw the line?\u201d As the hooky chorus kicks in she confirms, \u201cIf the only way to win is by breaking all the rules\/ I\u2019d rather lose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore\u2019s last album,&nbsp;<em>Amanda Leigh<\/em>, came out back in 2009. Since then Moore\u2019s music has been mostly tied to soundtracks for her acting projects, including 2010\u2019s <em>Tangled<\/em> and her current TV show <em>This Is Us<\/em>, for which she covered Linda Ronstad\u2019s \u201cWillin\u2019\u201d in 2017. \u201cThe idea of diving back into music after so much time and personal change was really intimidating to me for a while,\u201d she said in a statement around the release of \u201cWhen I Wasn\u2019t Watching.\u201d \u201cBut then I finally realized: I\u2019m the only person who can make this move. It all has to start with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No details have been confirmed about her upcoming album, but Moore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mandy-moore-ryan-adams-marriage-wtf-with-marc-maron-796269\/\">told Marc Maron<\/a> earlier this year that she planned to work on the songs with her husband Taylor Goldsmith and Blake Mills. The singer described the new music as \u201cvery personal,\u201d adding, \u201cI mean, I feel like I\u2019ve lived a life in the last 10 years.
