The rollicking performance was led by singer Darius Rucker crooning the track\u2019s optimistic lyrics: \u201cThere ain\u2019t nothing that a little love can\u2019t get us through\/ We gotta hold on, when it feels like hope is gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHold On\u201d was co-written by&nbsp;<a id=\"auto-tag_chris-stapleton\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/chris-stapleton\/\" data-tag=\"chris-stapleton\">Chris Stapleton<\/a> and Jim Beavers, and is the only track on the new album that Hootie &amp; the Blowfish didn\u2019t have a hand in writing. Eric Paslay, Ed Sheeran and Adam Doleac also contributed co-writes to <em>Imperfect Circle<\/em>. \u201cHold On\u201d was produced by Frank Rogers, along with two other tracks from the album, while Jeff Trott produced the rest. <em>Imperfect Circle<\/em> is the band\u2019s first studio album in nearly 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>During their appearance on <em>Ellen<\/em>, DeGeneres also surprised Hootie &amp; the Blowfish with a plaque to commemorate selling more than 21 million copies of their iconic debut album <em>Cracked Rear View<\/em>, released in 1994.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hootie-and-the-blowfish-hold-on-ellen-908137\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Rolling Stone<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hootie &amp; the Blowfish performed their recent single \u201cHold On\u201d on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, giving fans a taste of their new&nbsp;album&nbsp;Imperfect Circle, which dropped last week.
