Ben Folds<\/a> is parting with over 250 pieces of gear from throughout his career in an upcoming Reverb sale<\/a>. The singer-songwriter\u2019s online shop, which launches November 12th, will feature instruments, microphones and other studio equipment, some of which he used during recording sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI love stuff. I\u2019m that vapid. I just like stuff,\u201d Folds joked in a video announcing the shop. \u201cA lot of it I haven\u2019t used \u2014 I\u2019ve just fondled. I go to the studio and just touch it, look at it. But most of it I actually have used, and if I haven\u2019t used it, I\u2019ll tell ya.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Folds \u201ccurated\u201d the items over the past two decades, including his 15-year tenure working out of Nashville\u2019s famed RCA Studio A. Even after leaving the space until 2016, he still kept massive amounts of gear \u2014 including numerous keyboard instruments, drum kits and vintage microphones. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want a studio anymore because I just want a spend my time writing music now after having a studio for 15 years,\u201d Folds says. <\/span><\/p>\n

Highlights from the sale include the Suzuki Melodion used on the 1997 Ben Folds Five<\/a> album, Whatever and Ever Amen<\/i>; a Kustom Kombo-II organ\/synthesizer he purchased from Sheryl Crow, a Hohner Wurlitzer Organ Model 300 and his prized Neumann U 47 microphone. \u201cThat\u2019s the mic I used for, god, every vocal in the century that I did, unless I was in someone\u2019s studio as a guest or something,\u201d he says. \u201cThat\u2019s my favorite mic. I love that one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The most amusing listing is a microphone clip with a massive price tag. \u201cI won\u2019t take one cent less than $50,000 for the mic clip,\u201d he says in the video. \u201cYou can offer me if you want to \u2014 do not insult me.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Folds\u2019 Reverb sale follows similar shops from Green Day<\/a> and Megadeth\u2019s Dave Mustaine<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n
