Who else woke up this morning thinking they\u2019d dreamed that Luke Combs<\/a> had been invited to join the Grand Ole Opry last night? ?<\/p>\n

Good news. It was absolutely not a dream. It\u2019s very, very real. And very, very well-deserved.<\/p>\n

When Combs was on the Opry stage on Tuesday night (June 11), Chris Janson, Craig Morgan and John Conlee made the grand ole ask in front of the whole Opry crowd, causing Combs to break down in some combination of genuine shock and overwhelming emotion and very believable disbelief.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to touch you. What a career this guy is having. It is incredible. You all know that. We all know that. The Grand Ole Opry wants you to know that we just love you,\u201d Conlee first told Combs when he, Janson and Morgan surrounded him after his performance. Then together, all three men asked, \u201cHow would you like to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the absolute feather in my cap for me as far as career goals. It is the absolute No. 1 thing for me. It cannot be surpassed. It\u2019s something I\u2019ve dreamed about since I made my debut. It\u2019s such a storied thing. I was like, \u2018I will do whatever it takes to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.\u2019 I just can\u2019t believe it. It doesn\u2019t feel real,\u201d Combs said after he said \u201cYes\u201d to the Opry invite.<\/p>\n

According to the Tennessean<\/em>, Combs was not expecting<\/a> this this early in his career. Especially when you consider that it was only about five years ago that he first arrived in Nashville and nobody would touch him<\/a> with a ten-foot pole. Some even told him of \u201cHurricane\u201d and \u201cWhen It Rains It Pours,\u201d \u201cMan, the songs just aren\u2019t that great.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just never think it\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Combs said at the Opry. \u201cWhen they asked, I literally couldn\u2019t believe it. I didn\u2019t even know what to say. There\u2019s nothing to say but yes, and I didn\u2019t even say yes. I just cried the whole time. Let me go on the record and say, \u2018Yes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs next tour stop is in Buffalo, NY on Friday (June 14).<\/p>\n
