Colorado has launched \u201cFor the Love of Colorado,\u201d a public education campaign aiming to increase awareness of water scarcity and promote the state\u2019s water plan.<\/strong><br \/><em>Hugh Carey \/ <a href=\"mailto:hcarey@summitdaily.com\">hcarey@summitdaily.com<\/a><\/em><\/strong><br \/><em>Colorado launches water conservation campaign<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>FRISCO \u2014 Colorado has launched a public messaging campaign aimed at increasing public awareness of water scarcity as well as to promote the state\u2019s water plan.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortheloveofcolorado.org\/\">For the Love of Colorado,<\/a> was created to educate the public about water conservation, leaning on sobering facts and figures about the Colorado River.<\/p>\n<p>For one, Colorado\u2019s population is expected to double by 2050. The campaign also notes that 80% of the state\u2019s water comes from snowpack runoff, which could shrink by as much as 50% by the end of the century.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid a slow-building water supply catastrophe, the state has drafted its own water plan \u2014 which integrates work done by Colorado\u2019s nine Basin Roundtables, the Interbasin Compact Committee, the Colorado Water Conservation Board&nbsp;and other organizations \u2014 since 2005 to implement water management plans.<\/p>\n<p>For the Love of Colorado is trying to push the water plan into the public consciousness, inviting residents to engage in the process and learn more about efforts to protect one of the most critical water supplies in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortheloveofcolorado.org\/\">ForTheLoveOfColorado.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/colorado-launches-water-conservation-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Sky-Hi News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Blue River near Silverthorne Town Hall, June 2017.
