The Grand County fishing report for the week of Aug. 12.<\/em><\/p>\n

Williams Fork:<\/strong> Surface temp is 66 degrees in the early morning and warms to 71 on a clear day. Water capacity is 99%. Water clarity is about 10 feet.<\/p>\n

With the \u201cdog days\u201d of summer now upon us, the lake trout bite has dropped off, but we are still catching them in 80-90 feet of water on small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat.<\/p>\n

Scent attractant seems to help get the fish to bite. Patience is key this time of year.<\/p>\n

The rainbow bite has also slowed, but bank fishermen are catching a few fish lake wide bottom fishing with bait. There is a good population of small rainbows surface feeding early morning where the river meets the lake near the driftwood piles. Fly and bubble will work best on them. Northern pike and kokanee salmon are slow.

Grand Lake:<\/strong> A few rainbows are being caught early and late around the inlets. A few browns have been caught casting around boat docks early and late in the day. Lake trout are being caught on small jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat.<\/p>\n

Lake Granby:<\/strong> Look for rainbows in the back of the bays feeding on bugs just before dark. Small spoons are working well. A few kokanee are starting are starting to show up in Grand Bay. Lake trout are being caught in 50-100 feet of water. Trollers are catching a few on spoons, and jiggers are doing well with twisters, heavy spoons and tubes. The last report mentioned patience with your spots. It\u2019s still important.<\/p>\n
