{"id":18130,"date":"2019-08-31T19:59:16","date_gmt":"2019-09-01T01:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/?p=59804"},"modified":"2019-08-31T19:59:16","modified_gmt":"2019-09-01T01:59:16","slug":"two-critically-injured-after-traveling-through-an-aqueduct-in-winter-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/local-news\/two-critically-injured-after-traveling-through-an-aqueduct-in-winter-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Two critically injured after traveling through an aqueduct in Winter Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Grand County residents sustained critical injuries after traveling through an aqueduct pipe in Winter Park on Saturday and had to be airlifted from the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Police responded to a call of a woman found with a broken leg and facial trauma in the canal east of the Lakota Subdivision around 1:50 today, according to a press release from the Fraser Winter Park Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Officers also found a man unresponsive in the water, around 200 yards north of where the woman was found in the canal that parallels Forest Service Road 128.<\/p>\n<p>Both the man and woman were taken by helicopter to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, the man and woman are believed to have been swimming in the canal close to the entrance of an aqueduct pipe.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow they ended up traveling about 100 yards through the duct to where it dumps out into the lower canal, sustaining severe trauma.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence on scene suggests alcohol may have been a contributing factor.<\/p>\n<p>Police are not releasing the names of the victims because the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Responding agencies included the Fraser Winter Park Police Department, the Grand County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Grand County EMS and East Grand Fire.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/two-critically-injured-after-traveling-through-an-aqueduct-in-winter-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Sky-Hi News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Grand County residents sustained critical injuries after traveling through an aqueduct pipe in Winter Park on Saturday and had to be airlifted from the scene.
