She also pointed out that eight of his singles have gone platinum.<\/p>\n<p>Beth Brinker spoke for ASCAP, noting that \u201cRumor\u201d is Gorley\u2019s 42nd No. 1 and that he is a six-time winner of ASCAP\u2019s country songwriter of the year award. Jacobs, Brinker added, has written more than 1,800 songs, 150 of which have been recorded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRumor\u201d is Jacobs\u2019 fourth No. 1 as producer. He and Brice, along with Billy Montana, co-wrote Garth Brooks\u2019 2007 hit, \u201cMore Than a Memory,\u201d which was the first song in the history of <em>Billboard<\/em>\u2019s country charts to debut at No. 1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"deferred_content\">Embedded from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aUt7XQOy0f4?feature=oembed\">www.youtube.com<\/a>. <noscript class=\"deferred_content\" data-deferred-info=\"{&quot;type&quot;:&quot;iframe&quot;}\"><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aUt7XQOy0f4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p>Publisher Ryan Beuschel said that Brice was convinced from the start that \u201cRumor\u201d was a hit from his audiences\u2019 reaction to it. \u201cHe listens to his fans,\u201d Beuschel said. \u201cThat\u2019s the best market research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Written in 2015 at a songwriters retreat in Florida, \u201cRumor,\u201d apart from its other successes, can also be heard in the 2019 Hallmark movie, <em>My One and Only<\/em>, and, as Hatch observed, is \u201cselling a lot of ringtones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis guy is a producer,\u201d said Mike Curb, founder and owner of Brice\u2019s label. \u201cMaybe I shouldn\u2019t say this, but he should have his own record company.
