Two people involved in a string of Grand Lake burglaries last year entered plea deals Thursday at the Grand County Courthouse.<\/p>\n

Colin Sabo, 44, and Candice Hewitt, 33, pleaded guilty to certain counts related to both the Grand Lake burglary ring and their failure to appear in court for scheduled appearances in January.<\/p>\n

Sabo pleaded guilty to felony aggravated theft with a jail sentence capped at six years. He faces 90 days up to six years and must pay restitution up to $5,000. Sabo also admitted to failing to report to probation. His sentencing will be Dec. 5.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hewitt pleaded guilty to felony theft under the stipulation she won\u2019t serve more than two years. She also admitted to failure to report to probation. Her sentencing hearing is set for Nov. 7.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said in court that Sabo\u2019s sentence was more severe than Hewitt\u2019s because of his deeper level of culpability and knowledge of the crimes.<\/p>\n

The plea deals resolve the cases against five of the six people charged in connection with the burglary ring.<\/p>\n

The two were initially arrested along with four other people in August 2018 and charged with crimes related to a burglary ring that operated in Grand Lake from late 2017 to early 2018.<\/p>\n

Hewitt failed to appear in Grand County Court on Jan. 17 for an arraignment. Sabo failed to appear at his court proceedings Jan. 31, and warrants were put out for their arrests.<\/p>\n

Denver police apprehended the pair in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The pleas have been tentatively accepted and will be confirmed at the sentencing hearings.<\/p>\n

The others arrested in connection with the burglaries include Paul Asbury, 47, who pleaded guilty<\/a> to 12 misdemeanor counts of theft in May; Joushua Miles, 25, who pleaded guilty<\/a> to one count of felony theft in November 2018; Adam Pritt, 25, who pleaded guilty<\/a> to one count of felony theft in February; and Jorge Varela, 29, whose case is still pending.<\/p>\n

Varela has a date in court later this month.<\/p>\n
