This week, Luke Bryan about his 2013 single, \u201cThat\u2019s My Kind of Night.\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/shows\/hot-20-countdown\">CMT Hot 20 Countdown<\/a> airs at 9\/8c Saturday and Sunday mornings.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>CMT: What did you think the first time you heard \u201cThat\u2019s My Kind of Night\u201d?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Luke Bryan: I thought, \u201cBig ol\u2019 summer dancin\u2019 fun.\u201d \u2026 I love going out playing big stadiums and watching people dancing in the aisles and drinking beer and having fun. We kind of speak each other\u2019s language a little bit.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s funny, he\u2019ll write a song to this day and he\u2019s like, \u201cHey, I got one comin\u2019 for you. So now every time I\u2019m out there, I\u2019m like, \u201cYeah, my fish are swimming over where we shot the video.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you actually catch the fish in the video?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[laughs] Well, that catfish was flown in. He was brought in, but I have caught real fish in real videos before. That\u2019s the only time we had to use Hollywood tricks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The only time you had a stunt fish.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stunt fish. Yeah. Can you wrap your head around that number?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s amazing. Anytime you look online, and certainly YouTube, and see how many people have watched it \u2013 and I think <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/1714119\/zac-brown-criticizes-country-song-cliches\/\">Zac Brown<\/a> had 10 million of those views. I\u2019m just playin\u2019! Just playin\u2019. [laughs]<\/p>\n<p>But it is very humbling when you know that, and even when you look and there\u2019s multiple videos that have been streamed and watched that much, it\u2019s pretty hard to wrap your head around. I\u2019ve had fun with it. I\u2019ve put fun music out and I\u2019ve put really, really heart-touching music out. I\u2019m not gonna put out 25 sappy, sad songs. It\u2019s just not gonna work that way for me.<\/p>\n<p>So, if people want to sit back and [criticize me]\u2026 That\u2019s just the way of the world these days and if I want to scroll down and read the comments then it\u2019s on me at that point. I can honestly say there\u2019s been times in my career where stuff\u2019s bothered me but I\u2019ve kind of moved on from that, I think. The problem is when you let that stuff enter into your mindset, it can control what you want to do musically.<\/p>\n<p>I think the second that I quit having fun with my music and my shows\u2026 we\u2019re still sellin\u2019 \u2018em out after so many years because I have to stay true to what I am, and I think the fans gravitate to that. As an artist, you have to do your lane. You have to do what brings you enjoyment in music. And for stadiums, \u201cCountry Girl Shake It for Me\u201d certainly checks that box. [So does] \u201cI Don\u2019t Want This Night to End.\u201d And \u201cThat\u2019s My Kind of Night\u201d is just another energetic, high-energy stadium song. It\u2019s so hard to find those up-tempos that really move the needle for you.<\/p>\n<p>I mean, we\u2019re sitting here in [Bridgestone Arena,] the home of the Predators and every time they score a goal, \u201cI Like It, I Love It, I Want Some More of It\u201d comes on the PA. And \u201cI Like It, I Love It, I Want Some More of It\u201d is not rocket science. But it works. And \u201cThat\u2019s My Kind of Night\u201d just works for a good time and you gotta have those, in my opinion, in your career. Early in my career I didn\u2019t, \u2018cause you can\u2019t visualize\u2026 you\u2019re praying for success but you can\u2019t really\u2026 still a lot has gotta happen. But now it\u2019s fun when I record a big song or something, I always like to visualize what the fans will do when I play it and certainly \u201cThat\u2019s My Kind of Night\u201d felt that way.
