Grand County\u2019s chilly mornings could portend some early season snowfall on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Grand County through Wednesday afternoon due to heightened fire conditions, but temperatures should cool down later in the week.<\/p>\n

A winter storm is expected to hit Colorado late Wednesday and coincide with the jet stream, an area of fast-moving air, to produce snow, according to OpenSnow.com.<\/p>\n

Temperatures are expected to drop Wednesday evening with snow possible Wednesday through Friday, according to the NWS. Friday morning is forecast to bring a hard freeze.<\/p>\n

Based on OpenSnow\u2019s models, snow accumulations could range from 2-10 inches with the most significant snowfall in the mountains. Additionally, OpenSnow is predicting that Winter Park Resort will get about 8 inches between Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Last year, Winter Park\u2019s first snow fell Oct. 8. If predictions come true, this year\u2019s snow could be only days behind. In early September, the resort saw mixed precipitation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the winter conditions won\u2019t linger for long, as OpenSnow is predicting warmer temperatures this weekend and early next week.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac predicts this season will see some deep powder and cold temperatures regionally.<\/p>\n
