Guests lingered at the bar and food table or relaxed on the overstuffed couches and chairs arranged in circles near the improvised stage.<\/p>\n<div class=\"deferred_content\">Embedded from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nPYRBsGMKOU?feature=oembed\">www.youtube.com<\/a>. <noscript class=\"deferred_content\" data-deferred-info=\"{&quot;type&quot;:&quot;iframe&quot;}\"><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nPYRBsGMKOU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p>New RIAA multi-platinum certifications were also revealed: \u201cDie A Happy Man\u201d (6x platinum); \u201cMarry Me\u201d (3x platinum); and \u201cCrash and Burn,\u201d \u201cT-Shirt,\u201d and the album <em>Tangled Up<\/em> (2x platinum).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real secret of [Thomas Rhett\u2019s] success,\u201d BMI\u2019s Leslie Roberts told the gathering, \u201cis that he knows what matters\u2014his family.\u201d Indeed, besides his dad, who stood near him on stage, Thomas Rhett\u2019s wife Lauren was also on hand to share his joy.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts noted that the two songs being spotlighted are Thomas Rhett\u2019s twelfth and thirteenth No. 1\u2019s and complimented him for having recently sold out Madison Square Garden. The artist has stood apart from most of his peers by the extent to which he brings his personal life into his songs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I had to describe Thomas Rhett in one word,\u201d said Scott Borchetta, who heads Thomas Rhett\u2019s record label, \u201cit would be \u2019collaborate.\u2019 He includes everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Akins told the crowd that he would be opening for his son, as he has been throughout the tour, when he plays Nashville\u2019s Bridgestone Arena on Saturday (Oct. 12). And, he pointed out, at midnight on that day he will turn 50 years old. You can\u2019t miss her. I just want to take a second to say \u2019Thank you so much\u2019 to my wife and to my two little baby girls. We\u2019ve got one on the way due in February. Three little girls. I can\u2019t believe my life has turned out this way. I\u2019m just so fortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he turned his attention to his fellow songwriters. (Of the songwriters being honored, only Kasher and Malik were absent.) \u201cMe and dad talk about this all the time\u2014how you can sit in a room with people and come up with an idea and then four hours later there\u2019s exists a song that one day, by the grace of God, an arena will sing along to. It\u2019s the most mind-blowing thing to me. \u2026 It\u2019s just been really fun to go to work with people that are a little bit outside the box and being able to take my vision and what I have to say on a record and take it to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He concluded on a practical note everyone could relate to. \u201cI\u2019ve got three weddings and three colleges to pay for.
