A big shout out goes to Mike Thompson and our bus drivers for everything they do to make sure our kids get to school and home safely each day. On Oct. 23, our soccer team played in Denver and the trip home was in a terrible snowstorm. The following quote is from our coaches: “We just wanted to formally give our gratitude to Paul, our bus driver last night. He was amazing getting us back home safely as they closed Interstate 70 behind us. There were hundreds of cars stuck on I-70 as he carefully navigated treacherous conditions with competence and care. We appreciated his driving skills and ability to get us home safely.”

• The students at GES love the fruit stand provided by Mountain Family Center and the healthy snacks it provides. Thank you, Mountain Family Center. We now have fruit stands in all of our schools, and they are a big hit with our students.

• MPHS football seniors went to Granby Elementary on Wednesday to read their favorite children’s book to K-1 classes.

• The Middle Park boy’s soccer team will host Jefferson Academy at 2 p.m. today in the first round of the state tournament. The Panthers finished the regular season 12-3, ranked No. 13 in the state. Admission to Friday’s game is free and the MPHS student council will be providing apple cider and hot chocolate with a raffle for two $20 Amazon gift cards and a Panthers box at halftime.

• GES kindergarteners enjoyed a field trip to the Granby Fire Station where they learned all about fire safety. Afterward, much fun was had playing in Rafferty Park and eating a special snack. Thank you, Grand Fire, for supporting our community learning efforts.

• At 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7, the Fraser Elementary fourth and second grades will be hosting a folk dance night. Come and join us for a night of dancing and fun.

• The Fraser Valley Elementary Choir will be starting Nov. 4, and third-fifth grade students need to have their forms in by the starting date. We will be singing festive holiday songs.

• Fourth and fifth grade student council members at FVE are in charge of the fall food drive to benefit Mountain Family Center. If you’d like to contribute, please bring non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, crackers, soup, or pasta to the foyer at FVE. Help us reach or exceed our goal of contributing 500 items to the food bank.

• We are excited to celebrate the hard work of Granby Elementary Preschool and Fraser Valley Elementary Preschool and their participation in the statewide Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System. These two programs both standout in the state as only seven districts in the state have a level 5 program. And less than 10% of all rated programs in the state are level 5. EGSD now has two level 5 programs. Congrats to all of the teachers and directors of these programs.

via:: Sky-Hi News

Great happenings in East Grand Schools the week of Nov. 1. • We’ve had an interesting couple of weeks with winter starting with a bang.
