{"id":19846,"date":"2019-11-01T16:16:04","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T22:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/?p=61236"},"modified":"2019-11-01T16:16:04","modified_gmt":"2019-11-01T22:16:04","slug":"forest-service-details-planned-burns-in-grand-county-for-coming-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/local-news\/forest-service-details-planned-burns-in-grand-county-for-coming-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Forest Service details planned burns in Grand County for coming week"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image p402_hide\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/11\/Brf-PileBurning-SDN-100417.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/11\/Brf-PileBurning-SDN-100417.jpg 620w, https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/11\/Brf-PileBurning-SDN-100417-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\"><figcaption><strong>Pile burning is expected to take place at several locations across the Grand County this week.<\/strong><br \/><em>Courtesy photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Smoke may be visible from Grand Lake, Winter Park and the Colorado Highway 125 corridor in Grand County with the U.S. Forest Service looking to burn slash piles in the Sulphur Ranger District over the next week.<\/p>\n<p>The burning is expected to focus on the following areas:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Trail Creek Fuels North (5,000 hand piles) <\/strong>\u2014 2.5<br \/>\nmiles northwest of Fish Bay on Granby Lake<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 ANRA\/Supply Creek Fuels\/Kawuneeche Road North (20<br \/>\nmachine piles and 1,000 hand piles) <\/strong>\u2014 1.5 miles northwest of Columbine<br \/>\nLake, near Supply Creek Trailhead<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Pass Creek (175 machine piles) <\/strong>\u2013 West and east of<br \/>\nHighway 125 near Gravel Mountain<\/p>\n<p>Wind can disperse smoke during burning operations, and snow<br \/>\nhelps keep the piles contained. Seeing flames and smoke, even after dark, is normal<br \/>\nwhen this kind of burning is underway.<\/p>\n<p>The operations are designed to reduce fuels for wildfires under<br \/>\nthe safest conditions possible.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions are evaluated daily to determine if ignition will<br \/>\ntake place.
