{"id":19854,"date":"2019-11-02T12:15:54","date_gmt":"2019-11-02T18:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/?p=61255"},"modified":"2019-11-02T12:15:54","modified_gmt":"2019-11-02T18:15:54","slug":"fall-back-as-daylight-saving-time-ends-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/local-news\/fall-back-as-daylight-saving-time-ends-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall back as Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/clock-3179167_640.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>An extra hour in the wee hours of the morning awaits the world as Daylight Saving Time concludes at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nUnited States and other countries observing Daylight Saving Time will<br \/>\nturn their clocks back one hour to acknowledge the \u201cfall back\u201d portion<br \/>\nof the observance, which began March 10.<\/p>\n<p>According to National Institute of Standards and Technology, 2018 was the 100th year the United States has formally recognized DST, which was formally introduced in the country in 1918.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nmajority of US states and territories observe DST, with the exception<br \/>\nof Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the<br \/>\nstate of Arizona, with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation,<br \/>\nwhich does observe DST.<\/p>\n<p>While many reasons for the practice have existed before its official implementation, according to NIST, the rules for DST changed in 2007 for the first time in more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new changes were enacted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which extended the length of DST in the interest of reducing energy consumption,\u201d nist.gov states. \u201cThe rules increased the duration of DST by about one month.
