Glenwood Springs High School \u2014 320 points<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">2. Fruita Monument \u2014 282 points<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">3. Summit \u2014 197 points<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">4. Moffat County \u2014 90 points<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Glenwood senior Haley Diemer led the team with first-place finishes and state 3A qualifying times in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.68) and 500-yard freestyle (6:03.59).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"> Senior diver Abby Scruton led all divers with 178.90 points. Glenwood dominated the diving competition with teammate and sister Celia Scruton finishing in second with 148.05 points, and Libby Claassen finishing third with 143.65 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Other notable performances included:<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Sally McDonnell (senior), second place 50 freestyle (28.95), and third in the 500 freestyle (6:18.14)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Ellie McPherson (sophomore), second in 100 butterfly (1:16.01)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Emma Price (sophomore), third place in 100 backstroke (1:14.71)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Sophie Moon (junior), third in 100 breast stroke (1:21.21)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 200 medley relay, third (Price, Lindenberg, MacPherson, Diemer) *State 3A qualifying time of 2:09.99<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 200 freestyle relay, second (MacPherson, Friemel, Moon, McDonnel *State 3A qualifying time of 1:54.83<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 400 freestyle relay, second (Moon, Diemer, Friemel, McDonnell), 4:24.22<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"> Next up for Glenwood will be a triangular meeting with Aspen and Summit on Wednesday at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Glenwood will travel to Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction on Dec. 14 for the league\u2019s annual relay meet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">Glenwood High hockey scores opening win<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Glenwood Springs High\u2019s boys hockey team, under the direction of coach Tim Cota, won its opening game of the season on the road Saturday, 8-1, over the Air Academy Cadets in Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Demons out shot Air Academy 43-18. Glenwood\u2019s Hunter Hadsock had 17 saves in the goal on 18 shots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Ryan Kotz scored a hat trick for the Demons with two goals in the first period and another in the third.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Goals also came from Nolan McPherson in the first period and Colter Strautman, Robbie Weir, McPherson and Max Mencimer in the second.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cOur forward lines were able to establish a balanced attack, something we knew we had the capability to do this year and which we will need to do consistently to achieve our season goals,\u201d assisting coach Richie Luetke said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Added Kotz, the senior team captain, \u201cIt was a good start to our season, and our second period was probably our strongest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe do need to work on maintaining a high level of play throughout the entire game. That\u2019s the mental side that we can definitely work on for ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">Glenwood hoops action<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">After opening the season with a pair of losses to Fruita Monument (40-68) and Horizon (39-62) at the Warrior Classic in Grand Junction, the Glenwood Springs boys basketball team scored a win Saturday 55-49 over Bear Creek.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Up 27-20 at halftime, the Demons saw the lead fade by the end of the third when Bear Creek tied the game 34-34. Glenwood\u2019s Patrick Young and Adam Schrader scored with 2 minutes to play to make it 48-41, and the Demons hung on down the stretch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Glenwood girls, playing in the Palmer Tip-Off Tourney got off to a 2-1 start on the season with a 34-32 win over Palmer on Thursday and a 50-22 win over Pueblo South on Saturday, before dropping a 50-38 decision to Denver South on Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glenwood Springs High School sophomore Ellie McPherson completes the butterfly leg of the 200 individual medley.
