Granby Police are investigating a threat that was made against Middle Park High School on Wednesday evening.<\/strong>

The Granby Police Department is investigating a threat made against Middle Park High School by one of its students after receiving an anonymous tip Wednesday night. <\/p>\n

The East Grand School District and law enforcement received a Safe2Tell tip at 6 p.m. Wednesday that described an overheard conversation in which a student threatened to \u201cshoot up the school\u201d on Dec. 19, according to Superintendent Frank Reeves.<\/p>\n

Granby Police began an investigation the tip immediately and the probe is ongoing. However, a statement from Granby Police says the investigation \u201cdetermined that there is no current threat to schools or students at this time.\u201d <\/p>\n

Reeves said the investigation has determined a threat was made, but authorities have not yet determined whether it\u2019s credible. <\/p>\n

The threat is limited to Middle Park High School, Reeves said, and there will be an increased law enforcement presence at the high school until the holiday break. He added that the student who made the threat will not be attending school while the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel wholeheartedly that our school is as safe today as it was yesterday or any other day before the threat,\u201d Reeves said. <\/p>\n

The school district notified parents and community members through a letter emailed to them and posted on its website.<\/p>\n

In the letter, Reeves notes that the threat was \u201cthwarted thanks to students and adults who were willing to speak up when something wrong or dangerous was possibly going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The letter also touches on the stress that families and students face during the holidays and encourages the community to care for one another during hard times.<\/p>\n
