Students enjoyed watching the trains while being mesmerized by all the display’s amazing details. Students counted the number of cars in the longest train, discovered the color of a large bear, and found as many dinosaurs as possible while completing a scavenger hunt.

• From a teacher at Granby Elementary: “Thank you all for a great sock exchange. Loved to see all the fun socks and great ideas of what the socks were stuffed with. So blessed to have a fun staff to laugh and be merry with. Thanks to the first grade team for the delicious breakfast. It was amazing!”

• On Jan. 9, select CTE students in business, catering 2, and possibly woods/metals have been invited to Devil’s Thumb Resort to participate in a job shadow program. It will be a half-day in the afternoon. Thanks to Devil’s Thumb for working with and supporting our students.

• Congratulations, winners of the Grand County Communities That Care Logo Contest: All three positions were won by students. The winners were Zoey Scott (first), Olivia Maurais (second) and Niah Thomas (third).

• Granby Preschool took a field trip to the Christmas trains. Small groups of students and parent volunteers participated in a scavenger hunt that Ms. Jenny Cautrell created for the children. It was wonderful to witness the students seeing the Christmas trains and the tiny town that Mr. Naples has made into a detailed, interactive, and fun miniature town.

• Kudos to the MPHS CTE and Arts team for hosting an impressive Holiday Extravaganza Celebration of Learning last Wednesday. We had the opportunity to listen to some great music, enjoy yummy treats, and see some amazing student work. The time and effort put in by the teachers were apparent, and the positive response from parents and community members was overwhelming. Thank you to Brad, Carla, CarrieAnn, Echo, Mary Jane, Monica, and Tom, for providing another opportunity for our students to feel proud of their hard work.

• Kindergarteners at FVE have been reading many different versions of “The Gingerbread Man” the past two weeks. We’ve been enjoying comparing and contrasting the characters, settings, and events. We recreated our favorite character and wrote a couple of sentences about them. We will culminate our unit with a celebration decorating their own gingerbread house.

• From our graduate files: Nelson Mitchell, MPHS Class of 2015, is a co-author on a research paper on applying fire ant behavior to self assembling robots.
