Matthew Packard, chief of CSP, in a news release. \u201cDriving impaired effects more than just the driver, it puts everyone on the road at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, 114 agencies arrested 334 impaired drivers during the enforcement period. The enforcement period began on Dec. 27, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>CDOT shared the following tips to encourage drivers to stay safe on New Year\u2019s Eve:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take advantage of the options for discounted, free and sober rides home.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t be afraid to take someone\u2019s car keys if they are impaired.<\/li>\n<li>Do not get into a vehicle with someone who is impaired. Encourage them to call a sober ride.<\/li>\n<li>Plan for a sober ride home before going out.<\/li>\n<li>Consume responsibly for a fun but safe New Year\u2019s Eve celebration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While Grand County residents may not have the same access to Uber or Lyft as partiers on the Front Range, those celebrating in Winter Park or Fraser can hop on The Lift, Winter Park\u2019s free bus service that runs until 2 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>From 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., the Lift also offers a call-n-ride service that can be reached at 970-726-4163.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/cdot-shares-nye-message-dont-drive-impaired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Sky-Hi News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are plenty of reasons to want to celebrate the New Year, but the Colorado Department of Transportation is reminding revelers to have a safe and sober ride home.
