There\u2019s not a smile to be had. It\u2019s six straight shots of Lambert\u2019s badass emotions: pensive, mournful, tortured, vengeful, pissed and\/or dead serious.<\/p>\n<p>But she\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirandalambert.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">smiling now<\/a>. It\u2019s kind of a demure soft smile, but a smile nonetheless. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat smile may just be the wildcard I pulled out of my sleeve this time because of where I\u2019ve gotten in my life,\u201d Lambert told <em>Billboard Country Update<\/em> about how her <em>Wildcard<\/em> cover reflects her current state of newlywed bliss. If you\u2019re in the room with musicians and you\u2019re putting down this track of a song that you love dearly, you\u2019re going to sing like (the room feels). <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you\u2019re running in there at 2:30 and you\u2019re like, \u2018I have an hour before my next interview, I\u2019m going to get this vocal,\u2019 it just doesn\u2019t work for me, you know? I have to be put into place. I guess it\u2019s almost like an actress being put in her role at the time. Like it\u2019s hard to snap in and out,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n<p>Lambert penned \u201cBluebird\u201d with Natalie Hemby and Luke Dick and says that the vibe of the day of the write was highly emotional. First, Dick had texted Lambert with a few lines of a 1992 Charles Burkowski poem called \u201cThe Bluebird.\u201d Then, Lambert shared her big secret that she\u2019d been dying to share. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe poured a glass of wine and held up her hand. She goes, \u2018I got married three days ago.\u2019 And Luke and I started laughing,\u201d Hemby said, \u201clike, we just couldn\u2019t believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like for that song I might as well tell my news to my friends because I felt like it would really add. And it turned out that it did,\u201d Lambert added. <\/p>\n<p>When the group did get down to the business of song-crafting, that went something like this:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kind of twisted it to fit a little bit more of what I sing about and how I state things,\u201d she said. \u201cThere was a lot of poetry in the song, and a line like <em>If love keeps givin\u2019 me lemons\/I just mix \u2019em in my drink<\/em> was something to sort of bring it back and simplify for a second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lambert\u2019s Wildcard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirandalambert.com\/tour\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">tour starts<\/a> on Thursday (Jan. 16) in Tupelo with Cody Johnson and LANCO. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B64DH2AnTqK\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"12\"><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"author\">\n<div class=\"description\"> Alison makes her living loving country music.
