{"id":21084,"date":"2020-01-23T11:56:50","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T18:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/?p=1817050"},"modified":"2020-01-23T11:56:50","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T18:56:50","slug":"the-timeline-of-the-eric-church-ray-fulcher-luke-combs-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/music-news\/the-timeline-of-the-eric-church-ray-fulcher-luke-combs-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"The Timeline of the Eric Church\/Ray Fulcher\/Luke Combs Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cmt.mtvnimages.com\/uri\/mgid:ao:image:cmt.com:687787?width=1200&amp;height=675&amp;.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"byline\"> by <span class=\"author\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/author\/bonaguroa\/\" title=\"Posts by Alison Bonaguro\" rel=\"author\">Alison Bonaguro<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"date\"><br \/>\n5m ago<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/country\/8548656\/ray-fulcher-luke-combs-songwriter-spotlight\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">new story <\/a>in <em>Billboard<\/em> that features songwriter Ray Fulcher, and he shares how he first got his start in country music. <\/p>\n<p>And when you look at the timeline of all the things that went right for Fulcher, you have to assume that fate was somehow always on his side. <\/p>\n<p>Starting all the way back in 1977. <\/p>\n<p><strong>1977<\/strong>: Eric Church is born. <\/p>\n<p><strong>1985<\/strong>: Ray Fulcher is born. <\/p>\n<p><strong>1990<\/strong>: Luke Combs is born. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2006<\/strong>: Fulcher\u2019s friends at the University of Georgia drag him to a Church concert at the Georgia Theatre. \u201cHe played a song called \u2018Lightning\u2019 off his very first album,\u201d Fulcher told <em>Billboard<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s just like, everything in life made sense: I don\u2019t know what he did to me, but I (realized) I have to make people feel that way. He made me feel like that\u2019s my purpose in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2006<\/strong>: Just a week after that concert, Fulcher buys his first guitar. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2009<\/strong>: Combs, too, discovers the power of Church while he was at Appalachian State University. \u201cI listened to <em>Carolina<\/em>, and I fell in love. Then I went and bought his older one, <em>Sinners Like Me<\/em>. I got obsessed with the songwriting and the artistry of everything he\u2019d done,\u201d Combs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/1801668\/luke-combs-the-year-end-qa\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">told me<\/a> at the end of 2018. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2014<\/strong>: At 28 years old, Fulcher moves himself and his guitar(s) to Nashville and moved in with the one person he knew in town. \u201cI had every reason in the world to stay home, but I remember that moment of being like, \u2018Can I wake up at 40-years-old one day and wonder what if?\u2019 And for me it was, \u2018No I can\u2019t.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2014<\/strong>: Fulcher meets and becomes friends with Luke Combs. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2016<\/strong>: At a writers\u2019 round in Nashville, Combs\u2019 manager Chris Kappy invited Lynn Oliver-Cline, the founder\/CEO of River House, who ultimately gave Fulcher a publishing deal. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2016<\/strong>: Fulcher writes what he considers his first good song.
