{"id":21333,"date":"2020-02-08T09:29:01","date_gmt":"2020-02-08T16:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/kremmling-oks-cannabis-questions-for-april-ballot\/"},"modified":"2020-02-08T09:29:01","modified_gmt":"2020-02-08T16:29:01","slug":"kremmling-oks-cannabis-questions-for-april-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/local-news\/kremmling-oks-cannabis-questions-for-april-ballot\/","title":{"rendered":"Kremmling OKs cannabis questions for April ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.swiftcom.com\/assets\/SkyHiDaily\/Images\/SHN-facebook-thumbnail-1200.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Kremmling\u2019s town board approved language for two ballot questions in April that would repeal the town\u2019s ban on retail and medical cannabis retailers and set a special sales tax.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Dan Stoltman, town manager, presented several different questions about lifting the town\u2019s cannabis ban for the board, including options that asked about businesses outside retailers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Ultimately, the board felt that the question should be kept simple and only include retailers, so that the board could get a clear idea whether voters are comfortable allowing cannabis sales in town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWhy do we need to throw it all out there and then all of a sudden we\u2019re tied up for two years trying to make ordinances on how we\u2019re going to cultivate, manufacture, do infused products testing, etc.,\u201d said Trustee Erik Woog. \u201cThe whole premise behind this is to keep our personal feelings out of it \u2026 and I think what we want to do is truly know what the people of the town want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The ballot question asks: \u201cShall the town board lift the current ban on retail and medical marijuana sales in the town of Kremmling, and begin to craft a new ordinance allowing retail marijuana stores and medical marijuana centers\/dispensaries within the town of Kremmling with such restrictions as seen fit by the Board of Trustees and discussed at a public meeting?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The board also approved a special sales tax of 5% for retail cannabis sales should the town decide to allow dispensaries. Based on the sales tax question, the board would be able to increase the special sales tax up to 10% without returning to the voters for approval.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In other business:<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 The board approved an agreement with Grand County for assistance in the April election, including printing and mailing ballots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 The Colorado Department of Transportation will be reconstructing the curb, gutter and sidewalks along Park Avenue to bring them into ADA compliance. The board approved an agreement for that work and accepted $200 from CDOT in exchange for the town allowing construction in one of its right of ways.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 An acre parcel of land was annexed into the town of Kremmling at the request of the Sammons family. The board approved the annexation of the parcel and zoned it as mixed-use.
