Grand County\u2019s former EMS chief, Ray Jennings, retired in January after 16 years.<\/p>\n<p>Good\u2019s extensive experience began right out of high school where he started in a small fire department and moved to EMS a few years later.<\/p>\n<p>He spent 27 years working for American Medical Response in Colorado Springs, starting as an EMT and working his way up to operations supervisor. As supervisor, he oversaw daily operations fielding 60,000 to 70,000 calls a year.<\/p>\n<p>Good and his wife have been married for 28 years. They have four sons, two of whom are also in the EMS field, and two grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>The couple moved to Grand Lake in December and Good spent two months as EMS captain for the county. He said it was a visit to Lake Granby a couple years ago that drew them to Grand County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe fell in love with the area and worked on trying to move up there,\u201d Good said. \u201cTwo years later here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He enjoys the outdoors and recreation activities like camping, riding ATVs and snowmobiling. As EMS chief, Good said he hopes to continue refining the systems in place for the county.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a good system when I came in, but there\u2019s always room for improvement,\u201d Good said.<\/p>\n<p>One idea includes cultivating partnerships with local agencies across the county.
