{"id":23012,"date":"2020-05-21T09:37:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T15:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/covid-19-restrictions-remain-in-effect-during-holiday-weekend-in-grand-county\/"},"modified":"2020-05-21T09:37:00","modified_gmt":"2020-05-21T15:37:00","slug":"covid-19-restrictions-remain-in-effect-during-holiday-weekend-in-grand-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/krky\/local-news\/covid-19-restrictions-remain-in-effect-during-holiday-weekend-in-grand-county\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 restrictions remain in effect during holiday weekend in Grand County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">As of Thursday morning, travel and social distancing restrictions remained in place across Grand County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Emphasizing that Grand County\u2019s requested variance has not yet been approved by the state, the county\u2019s COVID-19 response team reiterated the state\u2019s safer at home guidelines and restrictions are still in effect on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The county\u2019s health department said it would update the community if the variance is approved and outline new guidelines for the holiday weekend, but until then, everyone should assume the existing restrictions will prevail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Grand County has requested a variance from state imposed restrictions on restaurants, short-term lodging, fitness and recreation centers, and places of worship. If approved, it would allow the county to locally tailor its responses and public health orders.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row shn-donation shn-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/02\/shn-logo-2x-wht.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyhinews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/02\/shn-logo-2x-wht.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cOur variance request was submitted last week, but it has not been approved yet,\u201d said Schelly Olson, a spokesperson for the response team, in a statement. \u201cWe are hoping to hear back from CDPHE in the next day or two, as they stated that the approval process takes about a week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Citing Ann Hause, director for Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment\u2019s Office of Legal and Regulatory Compliance, the county added that \u201cthe variances are approved for the same time frame as the Safer at Home Order, which currently is set to expire on May 26. (State officials) will communicate how (they) intend to treat those variances after May 26 shortly, as (they) do not want counties reapplying for the same variance to be effective on May 27.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">So until further notice, the following guidelines remain active.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Individuals and families should:<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Continue staying at home to the greatest extent possible and only travel for essential activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Stay within 10 miles of home or inside your primary county of residence when recreating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Only participate in solo recreation or recreation that involves just your household members.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Limit gatherings to less than 10 people, including graduation parties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Travel should be for essential activities only, not leisure or vacation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Practice best personal hygiene (wash hands, cover coughs, do not touch your face, stay home if you are sick).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Campgrounds, picnic areas, and playgrounds are closed except for Colorado Parks and Wildlife campgrounds<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">For businesses and lodging:<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Retail, personal services and other businesses can be open with strict social distancing and cleaning requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Restaurants shall remain closed to on-premises consumption (take-out and delivery is permitted).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 On-premise drinking establishments such as bars, brew pubs, wineries and tasting rooms shall remain closed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 Short-term lodging, such as vacation-style rentals, VRBOs, Airbnbs, cabins and hotels\/motels are closed for leisure stays. Many people live in hotels and some essential workers require use of them, so they are continuing to operate as critical.
