Darius Rucker Is Writing With Ed Sheeran and There Aren’t Enough Emojis!

Darius Rucker has revealed that he’s been writing in England with Ed Sheeran, and fans of both singers are too excited for words.

Heart-eye and praise-hands emojis are the most popular sentiments in the comments section of photos shared on Rucker’s personal Instagram page on Thursday (March 14). There’s also a fair amount of applause, shock-face and huggy-faces being used to express the various degrees of elation.

Joel Crouse and Nashville guitarist Kyle Rife are also tagged and included in one of the two photos.

“Had a blast writing with these boys. Too much fun!!!” Rucker writes.

It’s not clear whose next project the gang is writing for. It could be any of the solo artists mentioned (Crouse is also a solo artist), including Rucker who would be working on his sixth solo album since going country more than a decade ago. His summer plans are hitched to the Hootie & the Blowfish Tour, however. Could the band be close to delivering their next album, the first since 2005?

“We’re writing songs and we are in the studio and we are making a new album,” Rucker said in December. “For us making a record, we are not doing it for us. We are doing it for those people that planned their vacations around the Hootie & the Blowfish tour.”

Sheeran is on a break before resuming the international portion of his Divide Tour later this month. He’s not a new face in country circles, having first been introduced while on tour with Taylor Swift years ago. He’s also proven to be a fan of Luke Combs‘ music and has written songs like “The Rest of Our Life,” performed by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
