{"id":1301329,"date":"2018-12-07T16:08:45","date_gmt":"2018-12-07T23:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/?p=1801558"},"modified":"2018-12-07T16:08:45","modified_gmt":"2018-12-07T23:08:45","slug":"cmts-next-women-of-country-list-their-essential-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/music-news\/cmts-next-women-of-country-list-their-essential-women\/","title":{"rendered":"CMT\u2019s Next Women of Country List Their Essential Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cmt.mtvnimages.com\/uri\/mgid:ao:image:cmt.com:664571?width=1200&amp;height=675&amp;.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"byline\">by <span class=\"author\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/author\/tinglel\/\" title=\"Posts by Lauren Tingle\" rel=\"author\">Lauren Tingle<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"date\">12\/7\/2018<\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>CMT\u2019s Next Women of Country are dispelling the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/1801547\/historic-chart-exposes-country-musics-gender-disparity\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">myth<\/a> that women don\u2019t want to hear music by other women.<\/p>\n<p>When CMT hosted its Next Women of Country showcase in Nashville during CMA Awards week, all the alumnae were quick to rave about the women who first inspired them to pursue music and change their lives forever.<\/p>\n<p>Little Big Town\u2019s Karen Fairchild <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmt.com\/news\/1800742\/little-big-towns-karen-fairchild-inducts-cmts-next-women-of-country\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">introduced<\/a> the 2019 class at the sixth annual concert, and the inductees are Anna Vaus, Emily Hackett, Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Duski, Leah Turner, Rachel Wammack, Stephanie Quayle and Tenille Townes.<\/p>\n<p>CMT.com caught up with a few alumnae backstage and found out who continues to inspire them.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listicle-container\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"heading-container\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Cassadee Pope<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cThe women that make it, they\u2019re huge. They\u2019re not just little blips in the history of women who succeed. My vision for myself is playing arenas and stadiums because that\u2019s the kind of people I saw as a kid growing up. I saw Shania Twain. I saw Avril Lavigne and people like that who were just larger than life. It\u2019s really inspiring, and it encourages me to set bigger goals for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"heading-container\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Clare Dunn<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cSome of my biggest heroes were females. Tina Turner is my absolute favorite of all time. Whitney Houston, Shania Twain, Reba, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless \u2026 I grew up on women in country music in the \u201890s \u2014 Faith Hill, all those ladies. Women speak to other women, especially young girls. And those role models and those examples of what you could be, what you could aspire to be, there are fewer and fewer of those out there, and I hope that changes. I know I certainly was inspired by a gorgeous woman just up there doing her thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"heading-container\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Carly Pearce<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cKelsea Ballerini really took a chance on me years ago when I didn\u2019t have a record deal. She posted on social media about me, took me on the road and really built me up. She has championed me along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"heading-container\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Tenille Townes<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cI grew up a die-hard Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks and Carolyn Dawn Johnson fan. I remember pouring over the lyric sheets in the backseat just obsessing over the way they\u2019ve written these songs. Getting to see them onstage, too, it\u2019s such a beacon of light to look up and go, \u2018If they can do it, I can do it, too.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cWhat I\u2019ve really found in my favorites like Alison Krauss, is truth. It\u2019s truth straight-up, and it\u2019s not being afraid to be vulnerable. It resonates with a lot more people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"heading-container\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Lainey Wilson<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"description-container\">\n<p>\u201cI love me some Lee Ann Womack. I love me some Shania Twain. Those were two of my big influences growing up. Lee Ann Womack, Dolly Parton, Faith Hill \u2014 anybody from the \u201890s \u2014 the Judds. Women in the \u201890s were super powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"author\">\n<div class=\"description\">Lauren Tingle is a Tennessean and storyteller who eats music for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
