The film dives into the rich history of each ski area, talking with past owners, ski patrollers and locals, letting their fond memories tell the colorful story of each area.

Following this history lesson, the crew donned their skins and headed up the ski areas the old fashioned way, carving turns between the remains of ski patrol shacks, lift towers and trails of places now left to nature. The film, equally sad and optimistic, investigates the social and economic impact of their closing on their communities.

If you go …

What: “Abandoned” screening.

When: Saturday, Jan. 19, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Where: Colorado Snowsports Museum.

Cost: $15 for museum members, $20 for non-members.

via:: Vail Daily

In response to exceptionally strong ticket sales for the first “Through the Lens” screening of the new ski documentary “Abandoned”, the Colorado Snowsports Museum has added a second showing of the film on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the museum.
