LITTLETON \u2014 In a hurry-up-and-wait season, Battle Mountain hockey finally hurried successfully.<\/p>\n
Between the holiday break and a snowout at Steamboat Springs last week, the Huskies were playing their second game in a month and coming off a disheartening 4-3 loss to Glenwood Springs on Jan. 12, Battle Mountain took its frustrations out on Columbine on Tuesday by a count of 6-3.<\/p>\n
“We were a little bit angry,” Huskies coach Derek Byron said. “We were not happy with that result and having to wait a week and a half. Although we had a slow start, we dominated that game the whole time.”<\/p>\n
The Huskies (4-2-2) fell behind the Rebels 2-0 in the first period before Harry Green from Joey Beveridge shorthanded put Battle Mountain on the board. Special teams, a sore spot during the loss to the Demons, were much improved against Columbine. The Huskies were 2-for-2 on the advantage and stopped both Rebels’ power plays with a shorty, to boot.<\/p>\n
Parker Nash took over the middle stanza with a hat trick. Jensen Rawlings got the assist on the first goal; Beveridge the second and Nate Anderson and Dillon Flaagan teamed up on No. 3.<\/p>\n
Not to be left out, Green scored twice during the final period for his hat trick. Beveridge finished the game with four assists.<\/p>\n
“Hat tricks are always fun,” Byron said.<\/p>\n
After two games in a\u00a0month, the Huskies have a lot of hockey mashed into the rest of the regular season. It starts on Friday with a home game against Mountain Vista at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
