A skier died Saturday night at Ski Granby Ranch after reportedly hitting a tree, according to Granby police.<\/p>\n

Ski patrol attended to an unresponsive skier at about 7:10 p.m. at the Granby ski resort, according to a statement released Sunday morning from the Granby Police Department. The incident occurred on the Easy Money run at the resort.<\/p>\n

The skier, Jahangir Abdul, 46, from Tennessee\u00a0was transported to the emergency department at Middle Park Health \u2013 Granby where medical staff pronounced him deceased, according to police.<\/p>\n

The Grand County Coroner\u2019s Office confirmed his identification on Sunday and released his name.<\/p>\n

“While this is very rare, it is a very sad incident and our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Greg Finch, chief operating officer of Granby Ranch, in an official statement Monday.<\/p>\n

First responders from Grand County EMS, the Granby Police Department and the Grand County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.<\/p>\n

This marks the first skier death in Grand County for the 2018-19 ski season.<\/p>\n
