{"id":1302838,"date":"2019-01-24T17:27:03","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T00:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vaildaily.com\/?p=444323"},"modified":"2019-01-24T17:27:03","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T00:27:03","slug":"mountain-recreation-offers-free-wellness-expo-in-gypsum-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/mountain-recreation-offers-free-wellness-expo-in-gypsum-on-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain Recreation offers free wellness expo in Gypsum on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GYPSUM \u2014 Maybe the blush is gone from the New Year\u2019s resolutions made three weeks ago, so the Gypsum Recreation Center wants to remotivate valley residents with hours of healthy celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Mountain Recreation\u2019s Health and Wellness Expo is planned Saturday, Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will feature workshops, classes, demos, vendors and giveaways at the Gypsum Rec Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we wanted to do is provide an opportunity for our community members to learn about ways to be healthier and happier,\u201d said Scott Robinson, Mountain Recreation\u2019s director of marketing and communications.<\/p>\n<p>The added bonus, he said, is free events often bring new faces to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn important piece of this is to get people through the doors, to see what we are all about,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Activities schedule<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A busy schedule of free activities is slated for the four-hour expo.<\/p>\n<div id=\"single-mid-script\" class=\"p402_hide\">\n<h2>Recommended Stories For You<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to have both adult activities and kids activities, in true Mountain Rec style, to make sure there is something for everyone,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<p>For adults, beginning at 10:30 a.m. there will be 25-minute fitness classes, starting on the half hour. Staff members from Howard Head Sports Medicine will be offering short talks about injury prevention and workout recovery tips. Personal trainers will be on site to answer\u00a0questions and the Gypsum Rec Center caf\u00e9 will offer a number of healthy food options.<\/p>\n<p>The adult\u00a0schedule will culminate with a massive dodgeball game at 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>For the kids, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., bounce houses will be set up in the gym and from\u00a0 11:30 a.m. to noon there will be a relay race on the indoor track.<\/p>\n<p>The expo\u00a0vendor fair will feature information and products from community groups and various businesses.
