It sounds like Russell Dickerson<\/a> had some pretty simple neon dreams.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like God\u2019s given me this dream of being on stage and writing a song, even of getting a tour bus,\u201d Dickerson told Fox News<\/a>. \u201cAll of these dreams he put into my mind and into my heart are finally coming to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n

But that certainly didn\u2019t happen overnight. The hit singer-songwriter admits that after graduating from Belmont University, it took almost a decade before he finally felt successful. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely been a slow journey,\u201d he said. And when it was time to shoot his first music video for \u201cYours,\u201d Dickerson had no real resources to rely on. \u201cWe had no money, no budget, no nothing and we had been turned down, turned down, turned down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re like, \u2018Alright, we\u2019re going to do this on our own.\u2019 So we shot this music video for \u2019Yours,\u2019 and if you watch it on YouTube, it\u2019s just me walking down a road and my wife is in my SUV just shooting out of the back and it just starts raining and there\u2019s lightning everywhere,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was this God moment, totally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dickerson co-wrote that song \u2014 his first No. 1 \u2014 with Parker Welling and Casey Brown, who also teamed up to pen his other No. 1, \u201cBlue Tacoma.\u201d That trio also wrote Dickerson\u2019s latest song, \u201cEvery Little Thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is about my wife and all the little quirky things that I love about her. There\u2019s a line in the song that says, \u2019She\u2019s Seattle and Sonoma, runs on coffee and red wine,\u2019\u201d he said of one of his favorite lyrics.<\/p>\n

Dickerson is currently on tour with Carly Pearce, with shows scheduled across the country through early March. And then in May, he\u2019ll be joining Thomas Rhett on the road for a long list of stops that will wrap in October back in Nashville.<\/p>\n
