Her name, however, isn\u2019t enough to protect her from lawsuits.<\/p>\n<p>The actress is being sued by Terry Sanderson, 72, who claims that Paltrow caused \u201cserious brain injuries\u201d and four broken ribs after she crashed into him at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deervalley.com\/\">Deer Valley Ski Resort<\/a> in Park City, Utah, in February of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit describes what happened as a \u201chit-and-run ski crash\u201d in which Paltrow hit Sanderson from behind, \u201cgot up, turned and skied away,\u201d leaving Sanderson on the ground, injured.<\/p>\n<p>Sanderson is also suing ski instructor Eric Christiansen, who was with Paltrow, and the ski resort for \u201cnegligent actions.\u201d Sanderson has asked for $3.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Paltrow\u2019s lawyers, however, claim that it was, in fact,\u00a0Sanderson that collided with the actress from behind, and that Paltrow also sustained temporary injuries.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradoski.com\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/Colorado-Ski-Safety-Act.pdf\">Ski Safety Act<\/a>, it is illegal to ski away from a collision without exchanging contact information.
