That the legacy Garth Brooks wants to leave behind isn\u2019t necessarily his prolific catalog of country songs. It\u2019s his deep, deep, deep appreciation for his fans. That\u2019s what he really hopes his legacy will be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that the people who traveled all those miles, sat in the freezing cold at Notre Dame,\u201d Brooks told Jenna Bush Hager in a conversation on AOL\u2019s Buildseries.com. \u201cI hope the people that put in all the years know how grateful I was that they did it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Brooks is sounding particularly melancholy about how people will remember him, it\u2019s because he sees a little bit of himself \u2014 and his late mother \u2014 in his youngest daughter Allie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mom was a singer,\u201d he recalled. Brooks was the youngest of six kids, and has said before that as he headed into his Nashville career, he was carrying a big bag full of all the stuff he picked up on in his very musical house. \u201cShe gave (music) up for the children, so we kind of got to complete her journey.\u201d Brooks\u2019 mom died in 1999, and he\u2019s recorded a few songs for her and about her: \u201cIt\u2019s Your Song,\u201d \u201cMom,\u201d and \u201cSend \u2019Em on Down the Road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow our youngest daughter\u2019s bit with the bug. She loves to songwrite and sing. So the opportunity that you put in front of me and my family \u2014 I hope that people know how grateful we are to get to do the coolest gig on the planet,\u201d he added, \u201cnext to being my daughters\u2019 dad and being Mr. Yearwood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooks\u2019 next tour stop is set for April 20 in Gainesville, Florida.<\/p>\n<div class=\"author\">\n<div class=\"description\">Alison makes her living loving country music.
