It\u2019s always a smart move for reporters to hang around until the bitter end of a red carpet. Like Forrest Gump says about a box of chocolates, you never know what you\u2019re gonna get.<\/p>\n

Some of the final artists on the red carpet at the 54th annual ACM Awards were The Highwomen\u2019s Brandi Carlile<\/a> and Amanda Shires, who had updates on the new super-group and Carlile\u2019s upcoming album with Tanya Tucker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Carlile joked they had to do \u201cAman-dage control\u201d after Shires leaked<\/a> the news that the group had formed before they were ready to make the official announcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just get so excited,\u201d Shires told CMT.com.<\/p>\n

The Highwomen\u2019s Carlile, Shires, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby made their world debut with a cover of Kitty Well\u2019s \u201cIt Wasn\u2019t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels\u201d at Nashville\u2019s Loretta Lynn birthday celebration<\/a> April 1.<\/p>\n

CMT.com: What can fans look forward to next from the Highwomen?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shires: Look forward to next? Some amazing music for sure. And also, it\u2019s a movement of inclusion. We\u2019ve got some cool tattoos, and my husband got one, our guitar tech got one. It\u2019s not limited to just women. It\u2019s about supporting those you love.<\/p>\n

Who came up with the original idea?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shires: I came up with the idea a couple years ago, and then I reached out to Brandi, and she\u2019s kind of the wizard behind it all \u2014 behind making the idea become a real live animal.<\/p>\n

Will you release singles or a full album?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shires: Full album. We\u2019re recording more than a full album\u2019s worth, but I doubt it\u2019s all going to be on there.<\/p>\n

All original music?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shires: Yep!<\/p>\n

What is it about your bandmates that bring out the best in you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shires: When you get around someone who can sing as well as Brandi can and just having somebody around you that can explain things in a way that you can kind of see, even though it\u2019s intimidating to be around a singer like that, you still learn so much. I love working with Dave [Cobb]. I try to learn stuff from Maren, but mostly I learn how to get myself into weird shopping quandaries.<\/p>\n

Brandi, what can you tell us about the new Tanya Tucker album you two have in the works?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carlile: It\u2019s an album called, While I\u2019m Livin\u2019<\/em>.
Tucker: She named it.
Dennis Quaid: It\u2019s the album of the year.
Tucker: It\u2019s great!
Carlile: [There\u2019s] a song that Tanya wrote called \u201cBring My Flowers Now.\u201d
Tucker: And Brandi wrote.
Carlile: We wrote it together. It\u2019s an amazing record. It\u2019s Tanya\u2019s first album in 17 years it\u2019s really stripped down, and it\u2019s really raw. It harkens and makes you think about the time that Johnny Cash made the American Recordings because it\u2019s time for the kids to know where there Americana punk rock outlaw country, western music comes from, and for women, it comes from Tanya Tucker.
Tucker: I am learning all over again. She\u2019s taught me so much. And I\u2019ve never done a record quite like this. This is the first. She doesn\u2019t \u2014 you always want to go back in and fix things and make them perfect? She\u2019s caught the imperfection. I\u2019m so scared nobody else is going to like it, but she says they will.<\/p>\n
