The Rams evened things up at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning though as freshman David Good hit a leadoff single and then stole second base. Junior Eli Nickamin then walked before senior Layne Crisp drove in Good with an RBI single to make it 2-1. Senior Dawson Kuhl then tied the game with a sacrifice fly to center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Following the two-run burst in the fifth inning, the Rams added a run in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead as freshman Mason Smith doubled and scored on a single by Good. Holding the 3-2 lead, the Rams looked to close it out, but the Skiers added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, forcing extra innings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The two league opponents failed to score in the eighth inning, but the Rams added on in the top of the ninth as sophomore Graham Pietsch drove in Crisp and Kuhl with a two-run single for a 5-3 lead. That lead failed to hold up though as the Skiers scored three to win the game in the bottom of the ninth, thanks to three walks, two hit by pitches, and a single.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The loss drops Roaring Fork to 6-13 (4-3 in 3A WSL) on the season. The Rams host Grand Valley Thursday at Ron Patch Memorial Field in Carbondale for a 3A Western Slope League doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">GIRLS GOLF<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Competing at the 4A girls golf region 4 championships Monday at Monument-Desert Golf Course in Monument, the Glenwood Springs Demons girls golf team placed seventh with a team score of +66, finishing behind Golden (+28), Durango (+39), Evergreen (+44), Mullen (+45), Eagle Valley (+50), and Palisade (+63) on the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Individually, Glenwood Springs senior Lisa Kelley finished tied for eighth with a round of +12. Mullen\u2019s Sofia Choi won the regional championship with a round of +4, while Golden\u2019s Jessica Morrissey placed second with a round of +6. Battle Mountain\u2019s Madi Bennett and Eagle Valley\u2019s Kylee Hughes tied for third on the day with rounds of +7, while Evergreen\u2019s Kate Lisle shot a +8 to round out the top five.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Aside from Kelly for Glenwood, Maddie Riley placed 23rd with a round of +25, while Maggie Friemel placed 31st with a round of +29. Emma Price shot a +44 to finish 37th for the Demons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In 3A, Rifle\u2019s Masi Smith placed third in the 3A girls golf region 4 championships Tuesday at Dos Rios Golf Club in Gunnison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Smith\u2019s round of +3 put her behind Colorado Academy\u2019s Caroline Jordan (+1), and Marie Jordaan (+2) in first and second.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Smith\u2019s top three finish helped the Bears finish fifth as a team with a team score of +81, while Colorado Academy shot a +10 to win the tournament by 50 strokes. Vail Mountain finished second with a score of +6, while D\u2019Evelyn finished third on tiebreaker with a +60. Dolores placed fourth ahead of Rifle with a team score of +79. The Coal Ridge Titans placed eighth with a team score of +134.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Outside of Smith\u2019s top three finish, Rifle\u2019s Breanna Seay placed 15th with a round of +30, while Caroline Hays placed 25th with a round of +48. Coal Ridge\u2019s Jaelyn Price placed 16th with a round of +31, while Grace Gonzalez placed 19th with a round of +40. Teammates Isabelle Brintnall and Sterling Brintnall placed 31st and 32nd with scored of +63 and +64.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The state championships are next Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\">GIRLS SOCCER<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BriefText HeadSmall\">CRMS 4, DEL NORTE 3, OT<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Hosting No. 10 Del Norte in Carbondale Tuesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs, the CRMS Pearls won a thrilling 4-3 matchup in overtime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Pearls held a 2-0 lead at the half, but Del Norte scored three goals in the second half, pulling even at 3-3 to force overtime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In the win, freshman Zea Anderson scored one goal, while senior Ella Beck added one goal as well.
