New Castle Fishing Derby was the best ever<\/p>\n

Our 2019 Kids Fishing Derby was the best ever, and expanded to three age groups and 27 prize points. Thanks to Grease Monkey of Glenwood Springs for providing all of the trophies. Additional mega sponsors ($200 and over) this year were The Glenwood Caverns, both the Castle Valley and Lakota home owners associations, and Wendy\u2019s (100 kids got a free Frosty).<\/p>\n

Additional sponsors that helped provide over $2,200 in prizes were: Yvonne Ellis, realtor, Mason Morse; Factory Outdoor; Timberline Outdoor Sports; Vic\u2019s Charbroiler; Dominos; Sonic;, Little Caesars; Jim at Walker Bait; Culver\u2019s; Dairy Queen; Walmart; and McDonalds.<\/p>\n

Some 175 hot dogs were enjoyed from Costco, and beverages were provided once again by Pepsi.<\/p>\n

A special thank-you to the New Castle Recreation Department, Brian Grey with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Dustin and his Harcourt Fly Fishing for providing four guides, plus a special thank-you to all the volunteers, that helped make this day extra special. It takes a village to raise a child.<\/p>\n

International Jazz Day an absolute success<\/p>\n

The Glenwood Springs Arts Council would like to thank everyone involved in the International Jazz Day on April 30. It was an absolute success, and we are planning to hold the event celebrating International Jazz Day again.<\/p>\n

Shred for Charity helps Advocate Safehouse Project<\/p>\n

Advocate Safehouse Project would like to thank Jay McGlade and his Edward Jones team for hosting the Shred for Charity Event on May 7 at their office, the Riverside Professional Building in Glenwood Springs.<\/p>\n

Additionally, we would like to recognize Paper Wise and Dan Wolf for his time and shredding truck.<\/p>\n

This was the most successful year to date. We would like to thank those individuals that came out and supported Advocate Safehouse Project. Without the backing of community members like all of you, we could not continue on our mission of promoting healthy relationships free from violence through education, advocacy, empowerment and safehousing for survivors of domestic and\/or sexual violence.<\/p>\n
