The city of Glenwood Springs and contractor Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction will host two community informational meetings concerning the ongoing 27th Street Bridge project in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for 6 p.m. May 20 at the Glenwood Springs Library, 815 Cooper Ave., the river users meeting will discuss the bridge replacement project\u2019s potential impacts on commercial and recreational river users utilizing the Roaring Fork River.<\/p>\n

Last year, City Council approved the replacement of the 27th Street Bridge, commonly referred to as the Sunlight Bridge, which serves as the city\u2019s main connection over the Roaring Fork River to neighborhoods along South Midland Avenue and up the Four Mile Road corridor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good news about this project is that most of the impacts will occur overnight,\u201d project Public Information Manager Bryana Starbuck said of the anticipated river impacts. \u201cHopefully, there is not much of an impact to commercial users and people who float or fish during the daytime.\u201d<\/p>\n

The second general informational meeting will take place May 29 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with a brief presentation at 6 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s updated and focused on what people can expect for when we are doing the pedestrian bridge installation and the traffic bridge installation,\u201d Starbuck explained.<\/p>\n

In addition to replacing the vehicle bridge, which state inspectors deemed structurally deficient and functionally obsolete after it earned a 10.5 out of 100 rating, the project will also include a new pedestrian bridge.<\/p>\n

The city of Glenwood Springs will continue to announce all traffic impacts, travel advisories and construction updates via city ConeZone email updates, the project webpage and through the city\u2019s social media channels with the hashtags #27StreetBridge and #SunlightBridge.<\/p>\n
