{"id":1310455,"date":"2019-05-19T21:24:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T03:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/mind-springs-wins-2019-sherman-award-for-its-phase-based-care-program\/"},"modified":"2019-05-19T21:24:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T03:24:00","slug":"mind-springs-wins-2019-sherman-award-for-its-phase-based-care-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/mind-springs-wins-2019-sherman-award-for-its-phase-based-care-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Mind Springs wins 2019 Sherman Award for its Phase-based Care Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"465\" height=\"620\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/mindspringsaward-gpi-052019.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/mindspringsaward-gpi-052019.jpg 465w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/mindspringsaward-gpi-052019-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\"><figcaption><strong>Dr. Jules Rosen<\/strong><br \/><em>DAVID LESTER<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Amid Mental Health Awareness Month, Mind Springs Health has received the 2019 Sherman Award for Excellence in Patient Engagement, recognizing its \u201cPhase-Based Care\u201d program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Awarded annually on behalf of EngagingPatients.org, the Sherman Award \u201crecognizes innovative programs that focus on building stronger engagement through deeper, more meaningful communication and relationships with patients and families,\u201d according to the website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Mind Springs Health\u2019s Phase-based Care was developed by its chief medical officer, Jules Rosen (MD), along with Executive Vice President Michelle Hoy (LPC CAC III) and Quality and Compliance Vice President Dave Hayden (LPC III).<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be recognized for the work we are doing at Mind Springs Health and we believe that mental health treatment works,\u201d Rosen said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cFor that reason, we know how critically important it is for those experiencing mental health challenges to access and engage in care rapidly, and to achieve stability as soon as possible,\u201d Rosen added. \u201cWe are proud of developing a new care model to better serve and heal people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Mind Springs serves numerous Western Slope counties, including Garfield County where it operates an outpatient program facility near Glenwood Springs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">According to the news release, The Rapid Recovery Clinic \u2014 the first of the phase-based clinics, treats individuals in the different stages of depression and shortens wait times for treatment, \u201cfrom the national standard of one-to-three months to only four days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">A team spanning multi-disciplines meets with a client to discuss treatment options including psychotherapy and medication, as well as case management, peer support and group therapy \u2014 which one may attend weekly without an appointment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cPhase-based care provides the opportunity to be seen more quickly and receive more treatment touch points than traditional care models and results have been significant,\u201d the release stated. \u201cTo date, 63 percent of people were considered to be in recovery by week six, with 78 percent achieving recovery by week 12. This recovery rate is two-to-four times greater than national norms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The Sherman Award was established in 2014 to recognize excellence in patient engagement across the health care spectrum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Additionally, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement\u2019s Lucian Leape Institute and Taylor Healthcare confer annually to present the award on behalf of engagingpatients.org, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The other Sherman Award recipient for this year was Boston Children\u2019s Hospital in Massachusetts, specifically for the work of its Perioperative Complex Spine Surgery Team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cMind Springs Health\u2019s Phase-based Care program received the 2019 Sherman Award for its success in driving results, sustainability, potential for replication, effectiveness in communicating and collaborating and inspirational value,\u201d according to the news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText Tagline\"><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/health\/mind-springs-wins-2019-sherman-award-for-its-phase-based-care-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jules RosenDAVID LESTER Amid Mental Health Awareness Month, Mind Springs Health has received the 2019 Sherman Award for Excellence in Patient Engagement, recognizing its \u201cPhase-Based Care\u201d program.
