{"id":1310662,"date":"2019-05-24T17:03:49","date_gmt":"2019-05-24T23:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/?p=979168"},"modified":"2019-05-24T17:03:49","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T23:03:49","slug":"bridges-lyn-bair-to-lead-roaring-fork-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/bridges-lyn-bair-to-lead-roaring-fork-high\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridges\u2019 Lyn Bair to lead Roaring Fork High"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"742\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/04\/BairQA-GPI-041119-1024x742-1-1024x742.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/04\/BairQA-GPI-041119-1024x742-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/04\/BairQA-GPI-041119-1024x742-1-300x217.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/04\/BairQA-GPI-041119-1024x742-1-768x557.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><figcaption><strong>Bridges High School Principal Lyn Bair speaks with staff and faculty at the school earlier this spring.<\/strong><br \/><em>Chelsea Self \/ Post Independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Well-known Carbondale educator Lyn Bair will be Roaring Fork High School\u2019s next principal, the school district announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Bair has led the district\u2019s alternative Bridges High School for 15 years, \u201cthrough several challenges to become a school that is focused on supporting the whole child and helping everyone in the organization experience success,\u201d Superintendent Rob Stein said in a letter announcing the new role.<\/p>\n<p>Departing RFHS principal Brett Stringer announced his resignation in April, and the district convened a committee of 18 parents, teachers and community members to conduct interviews of potential candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverwhelmingly, the feedback from the interview committee was that Lyn is the right person to be Roaring Fork High School\u2019s next leader,\u201d Superintendent Rob Stein said in a letter announcing the hire.<\/p>\n<p>Stein\u2019s letter also includes comments from teachers and administrators at RFHS supporting Bair\u2019s hire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that Lyn\u2019s innovative thinking coupled with our staff\u2019s dedication will bring great success in our mission to serve our students and community,\u201d said Zoe Stern, assistant principal at RFHS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really like Lyn because she knows our community, she already has the respect of our community, and I\u2019ve seen her connect deeply with the Latino families. I have known of Lyn\u2019s reputation for years,\u201d said interview committee member and English teacher Denise Wright.<\/p>\n<p>The interview committee pointed out Bair\u2019s \u201cwealth of experience and expertise as a leader, her strong commitment to and involvement in the community, her mission-driven focus, and her individualized and personable approach to staff and student relationships as key strengths that she would bring to this leadership role,\u201d Stein said.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Bair said she is \u201cexcited to have the privilege of leading the youth and the dedicated educators in our community to reach their full potential. Go Rams!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The departure of Stringer came at a time when the RFHS community was not pleased with the direction of the school. He was hired two years ago over former RFHS assistant principal Kelsie Goodman, who had been a popular choice to take the head principal\u2019s position at the time.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview earlier in May, Stein acknowledged the relational struggles between the principal and staff at the school, but hoped that the community would work together with staff empathetically and constructively to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always easy to pinpoint an individual and assign blame rather than say, what are we going to do as a full team to work together better?\u2019\u201d Stein said.<\/p>\n<p>Stringer also acknowledged in making his decision to resign that his transition into the RFHS position had been a difficult one.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"mailto:tphippen@postindependent.com\">tphippen@postindependent.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/bridges-lyn-bair-to-lead-roaring-fork-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridges High School Principal Lyn Bair speaks with staff and faculty at the school earlier this spring.Chelsea Self \/ Post Independent Well-known Carbondale educator Lyn Bair will be Roaring Fork High School\u2019s next principal, the school district announced Friday.
