female that spent hours at convenience busted for meth and needles"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/02\/PI-crime-briefs-1small.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/02\/PI-crime-briefs-1small.jpg 600w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/02\/PI-crime-briefs-1small-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/02\/PI-crime-briefs-1small-325x183.jpg 325w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>\u201cONE HIT\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On May 31 at approximately 11:36 a.m. a Rifle Police officer responded to a \u201csuspicious call\u201d stating that a backpack was left overnight in Heinze Park.<\/p>\n<p>The reporting party advised that the backpack was at the park\u2019s gazebo and that a male wearing \u201ca black shirt and swim trunks\u201d was going through it and \u201cripping apart a notebook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The officer, upon arriving on scene, noticed a male \u201cput a pipe to his lips, light the pipe with a torch and smoke,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he was smoking the 39-year-old allegedly stated \u201cmarijuana\u201d and that he was just taking \u201cone hit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The male also allegedly told the officer that he did not know he could not smoke in public.<\/p>\n<p>After running the subject\u2019s name, dispatch advised that the male had a protection order, which stated the he \u201cshall not possess or consume alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After being placed under arrest the subject began \u201cbanging his head on the metal divider\u201d inside the officer\u2019s patrol car causing a laceration on his forehead.<\/p>\n<p>According to the affidavit, the subject refused treatment at the hospital and was later booked into the Garfield County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>Officers allegedly later discovered a meth pipe and a substance that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine in the man\u2019s belongings.<\/p>\n<p>The subject was subsequently charged with: violation of a restraining order, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public consumption of marijuana.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DUFFEL BAG WITH METH AND NEEDLES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On June 3 at approximately 2:06 a.m. an officer with the Silt Police Department noticed a woman at an area convenience store who \u201chad been there a couple hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the affidavit, the officer observed that the 32-year-old female was \u201cvery fidgety\u201d and \u201cgrinding her teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The female stated that she was waiting for a ride, since the officer had already arrested her male friend in a separate, earlier incident.<\/p>\n<p>During that arrest, the officer allegedly found a glass pipe \u201cused to smoke methamphetamine in her friends\u2019 backpack,\u201d and that the male had said that it did not belong to him.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, the female stated that the meth pipe was not hers and went on to say \u201cshe only shoots up with a needle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the officer questioned as to what was in a tan duffel bag on the floor behind the female, she said that it\u2019s contents belonged to her and her friend.<\/p>\n<p>The female said she was not comfortable with the officer looking inside of it because \u201cshe was not sure if there was anything illegal\u201d in it according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>When the officer advised that a K9 would sniff the bag the female allegedly began crying and stated that there was \u201cmeth and needles in the duffel bag.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The female was later transported and booked into the Garfield County Jail and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n<p>The amount of methamphetamine totaled to 1.58 grams according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/crime-briefs-one-hit-of-marijuana-leads-to-meth-charges-female-that-spent-hours-at-convenience-busted-for-meth-and-needles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cONE HIT\u201d On May 31 at approximately 11:36 a.m. a Rifle Police officer responded to a \u201csuspicious call\u201d stating that a backpack was left overnight in Heinze Park.
