{"id":1311394,"date":"2019-06-13T20:36:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T02:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/vaudeville-returns\/"},"modified":"2019-06-13T20:36:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-14T02:36:00","slug":"vaudeville-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/vaudeville-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"Vaudeville returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">John Goss, owner and artistic director of Glenwood Vaudeville Revue in downtown Glenwood, is excited for tonight\u2019s opening of the summer vaudeville show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cOur goal is to create a wide variety of show, that really entertains all the different age groups,\u201d Goss said. \u201cWe have some really funny stuff, pop culture, current events \u2026 We are always putting in new material, always getting the audience involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Goss said they have a great number, involving bringing children to the stage, and having them play a song in a bizarre way that makes everyone laugh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Though Vaudeville dates back to the early 20th century, Goss wants people to know this is a more modern approach with pop music, current affairs and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThe whole thing is based around gimmicks and ideas of wacky things,\u201d Goss said. \u201cI\u2019ve said it a million times, it\u2019s a little of Saturday Night Live meets Laugh-In; it\u2019s a wide variety of things, everything from hilarious skits to full production numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Goss and the cast of seven performers have been working on several new numbers, including a farce about being a tour guide in Aspen. Goss actually spent time as a lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous tour guide 15 years ago in Aspen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThere were so many weird things people would ask and do, so I wrote this entire number called \u2018Aspen Tour Guide,\u2019\u201d Goss said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The skit is based on true stories that happened to Goss during his tour guide tenure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The popular number about the roundabout is also back this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cIt\u2019s on the insanity of our Glenwood Springs roundabout, and everybody that has been through it can relate,\u201d Goss said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Goss says he has some new young performers, including Bailey Barnum, who grew up in Glenwood Springs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cShe is one of the most talented young ladies that I have ever met, a dancer and singer, a great performer,\u201d Goss said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The summer show runs from June 14 through Oct. 13.
