MAN ALLEGEDLY ROBS 93-YEAR-OLD OF HIS RIFLE<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Wednesday at approximately 7:37 p.m. a deputy with the Garfield County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to a female party alleging assault and gun theft.<\/p>\n

Upon arriving at the Glenwood Springs-area residence where the alleged incident occurred, the female advised that her brother-in-law had \u201cassaulted her, pushed her down, took a gun and left in a gold colored Toyota,\u201d according to the warrantless arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n

The day before, the male party had inquired about a serial number on the Springfield Armory Rifle, which he had allegedly given to the female\u2019s 93-year-old father 25 years earlier.<\/p>\n

After showing up \u201cunannounced\u201d the following day, the 70-year-old suspect told the female party that he wanted to check on his father-in-law and needed to see the serial number on the rifle. The female handed the rifle to the male party who then told her, \u201cthat he was just going to keep it.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, when the female attempted to take the rifle back she was pushed onto a \u201cstorage tote in the garage\u201d and stated that the male \u201cflipped her off as he was driving away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The male was later booked into the Garfield County Jail on charges of robbery and third-degree assault.<\/p>\n

MAN BRANDISHES BB GUN, TELLS DRIVER TO SLOW DOWN<\/strong><\/h4>\n

On June 13 at approximately 6:53 a.m., a male driving eastbound on I-70 near New Castle advised dispatch that another driver had pulled out a gun.<\/p>\n

According to the reporting party, the driver was in a \u201cwhite Chevy Blazer with a baseball hat, mustache and beard\u201d and had taken exit 111 following the alleged incident.<\/p>\n

A deputy with the Garfield County Sheriff\u2019s Office and an officer with the Glenwood Springs Police Department conducted a \u201chigh risk stop\u201d on the Chevy Blazer, after which its 40-year-old male driver was purportedly compliant and cooperative.<\/p>\n

According to the warrantless arrest affidavit, the suspect stated \u201che was mad because a white car was speeding and that he only pointed his finger towards the driver of the speeding car to slow down.\u201d<\/p>\n

The male subject in question further advised that he had a BB gun between his passenger seat and middle console.<\/p>\n

The reporting party later said that, although the \u201cgun was not directly pointed at him but at an angle,\u201d that he was still \u201cafraid for his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the reporting party confirmed a \u201csilver slide\u201d detail on the BB gun, the 40-year-old male was transported to the Garfield County Jail and charged with menacing.<\/p>\n
