ENGLEWOOD, Colo. \u2014 Emmanuel Sanders and Phillip Lindsay provided the good vibes at Vic Fangio\u2019s first training camp practice in Denver before linebacker Todd Davis was carted off with a right lower leg injury in the closing minutes Thursday.<\/p>\n

Davis was taken for an MRI. He was injured during a team drill with about 5 minutes left in practice and was carted off the field, although he walked into the building under his own power.<\/p>\n

Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb said after practice that Davis is a \u201chuge part of the defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTodd, I feel like he\u2019s one of the most vocal leaders on this team \u2014 not just the defense,\u201d Chubb said. \u201cHe\u2019s one of those guys that sometimes last year in the games, I\u2019d be like, \u2018Hey, Todd, what I got right here?\u2019 He just always knows what he\u2019s doing. He\u2019s always reliable. He\u2019s always making the right calls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanders (Achilles tendon) and Lindsay (wrist surgery) returned to action for the first time since they got hurt last December.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to see those guys out there,\u201d said new quarterback Joe Flacco. \u201cThose guys have so much energy. I mean, Phillip, he\u2019s like one of my kids. I don\u2019t know where he gets all the energy but he has it 24\/7. \u2026 Emmanuel, I mean the way I\u2019ve seen him work this whole offseason, he\u2019s looked incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fangio said he\u2019ll slowly add to Sanders\u2019 workload and that Lindsay has no limitations.<\/p>\n

At one point, general manager John Elway huddled with Flacco, whom he acquired in a trade with Baltimore, and rookie QB Drew Lock, who signed a four-year, deal worth about $7 million on the eve of camp .<\/p>\n

Flacco is the starter and Lock is vying to serve as his backup.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up watching John Elway,\u201d Flacco said. \u201cWhile we\u2019re kind of colleagues now and we\u2019re sharing the same field, there\u2019s still a little bit of that kid in you that (thinks), \u2018Man, John Elway\u2019s standing right next to me.\u2019 So, you try to act as normal as possible and just shoot the breeze. John\u2019s \u2018The Man\u2019 around here. Hopefully there\u2019s room for a couple more people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Notes: Although it was a blistering hot day, Fangio shrugged it off, saying, \u201cThe heat wasn\u2019t bad. You\u2019ve got to remember, I spent nine years in New Orleans, some time in South Carolina and Houston. They pray for a day like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
