{"id":1312913,"date":"2019-07-28T22:20:01","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T04:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/cmc-seeking-candidates-for-upcoming-board-elections\/"},"modified":"2019-07-28T22:20:01","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T04:20:01","slug":"cmc-seeking-candidates-for-upcoming-board-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/cmc-seeking-candidates-for-upcoming-board-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"CMC seeking candidates for upcoming board elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Colorado Mountain College is seeking candidates for five seats on the board of trustees, including one from the Roaring Fork Valley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Kathy Goudy, currently the trustee for District 2, which has the boundaries of the Roaring Fork School District, is term limited after serving two terms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Pat Chlouber of trustee District 6 (Lake County) is also term limited.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Each term of office is for four years, except for trustee District 7, which corresponds to Eagle County School District Re-50J boundaries and is a two-year term of office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">To be eligible, a candidate must be an elector as defined by state statue, and reside within the boundaries of the district for the 2019 election held Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The five trustee districts are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 District 2 (Roaring Fork School District boundaries)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 District 4 (Summit School District Re-1 boundaries)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 District 5 (Steamboat Springs School District Re-2 boundaries)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 District 6 (Lake County School District Re-1 boundaries<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u2022 District 7 (Eagle County School District Re-50J boundaries)<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The remaining incumbents are Patty Theobald of trustee District 4, Robert Kuusinen of trustee District 5, and Chris Romer of trustee District 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Kuusinen <a id=\"N0x2838b20N0x2844df0:N0x2838b20N0x28b08d8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/cmc-trustees-appoint-ski-and-finance-expert-to-board\/\">was appointed to the seat in June<\/a>, and has indicated he will seek election this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">If eligible for the seat, qualified residents must file a petition to run between Aug. 7 and Aug. 30 and collect signatures supporting their candidacy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Petition forms are available from the college\u2019s Central Services office in downtown Glenwood Springs on or after Aug. 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Petitions, including at least 50 qualifying signatures, must be returned to the college\u2019s district administration office by Aug. 30, before 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Potential candidates or those with questions should contact Jamie Kruis, election coordinator, at 802 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601, or 970-947-8325, or Debbie Novak, executive assistant to the CMC board of trustees, at the same address, or 970-947-8365.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/local\/cmc-seeking-candidates-for-upcoming-board-elections\/?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado Mountain College is seeking candidates for five seats on the board of trustees, including one from the Roaring Fork Valley.
