The trailer also comes equipped with an air compressor for asphalt removal and a heated tack sprayer \u2013 a vital bonding agent that allows asphalt to stick together.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote p402_hide\" readability=\"1.5\">\n<blockquote readability=\"6\">\n<p>\u201cThat pothole trailer will go all over town,\u201d \u2013 Public Works Director Matthew Langhorst<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In addition to repairing potholes on Midland and smoothing out two to three inch wide cracks along the bike path, the pothole trailer has been utilized along Bennett, Blake, Palmer and Pitkin avenues ahead of its chip-and-seal work.<\/p>\n<p>According to Langhorst, throughout September the trailer will spend another lengthy duration back on Midland, particularly from 27th to Eighth streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat section of Midland is falling apart slowly,\u201d said Langhorst. \u201cBut, that pothole trailer will go all over town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trailer has the capability of hauling 4 tons of hot mix asphalt and so far the Streets Department has produced more than 175 tons of asphalt in house.<\/p>\n<p>Langhorst called the current pothole trailer \u201ca test trailer\u201d citing how there were bigger options available for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>According to Langhorst, though, the city does not have the manpower necessary to haul around two pothole trailers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a good starter trailer for us to learn it, find out what we like about it, what we don\u2019t like about it and then hopefully in few years maybe upsize the trailer,\u201d Langhorst said. \u201cIt\u2019s a good investment for us. \u2026 It was not inexpensive, but it is well worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/glenwoods-65900-pothole-trailer-gets-to-work-on-citys-bumpy-streets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crews work on a street in Glenwood Springs with the help of the city&#8217;s new pothole trailer.Provided The city of Glenwood Springs has a new tool in its arsenal to combat its persistent pothole problem: a pothole trailer.
