Hosting the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers Tuesday in New Castle and looking for some revenge, the Coal Ridge Titans rallied from a 24-20 hole in the second set to cruise to a 3-set sweep against the Gore Rangers by scores of 25-13, 27-25 and 25-23.<\/p>\n

Coal Ridge trailed by 11 points early in the second set thanks to a great run at the service line by the Gore Rangers, but the Titans rallied.<\/p>\n

Vail Mountain held Coal Ridge off, though, getting to game-point at 24-20, but the Titans responded with a 7-1 run to pick up the second set win in thrilling fashion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a huge mental test for us,\u201d Aimee Gerber, Coal Ridge\u2019s head coach, said. \u201cIt was a huge stepping stone for our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the big rally, Coal Ridge took care of business in the third and final set, putting away the Gore Rangers to avenge last season\u2019s loss on the road.<\/p>\n

In the win, junior captain Taylor Wiescamp led the way with 8 kills and 7 blocks. Senior captain Taylor Roberts added 11 digs, while senior captain Lyanna Nevarez chipped in with 7 kills, 7 digs and 5 aces.<\/p>\n

Junior Brecken Guccini added 9 kills and 8 digs, while junior Phoebe Young recorded 5 kills, 9 assists and 2 blocks.<\/p>\n

Junior Ari Cornejo added 11 assists, 4 kills and 7 digs, while junior Maya Mercado added 3 kills and 2 blocks in the win.<\/p>\n

Coal Ridge improves to 7-2 (2-0 in 3A WSL) on the season. The Titans host Basalt Thursday in a 3A WSL tilt at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

VOLLEYBALL<\/p>\n

Glenwood Springs 3, Eagle Valley 0<\/p>\n

Glenwood Springs\u2019 girls volleyball team bounced back from a slow start Tuesday inside Chavez-Spencer Gymnasium to sweep the visiting Eagle Valley Devils in 4A Western Slope League play by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-23, running its winning streak to four games.<\/p>\n

Against the Devils, senior Kaitlyn Johnson dominated for Glenwood, recording 12 digs, 9 kills and 2 aces, while senior Emily Nilsson was equally as dominant on the night, added 22 assists, 8 kills and 4 blocks.<\/p>\n

Senior Shanik Zambrano added 6 kills and 13 digs<\/p>\n

Sophomore Kenzie Winder added 5 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks, while junior Reese Goluba added 21 digs on the back end.<\/p>\n

Junior Kiah Larson rounded out a strong night for Glenwood with 5 kills and 4 blocks.<\/p>\n

Glenwood (8-2, 4-0 in 4A WSL) hosts Montrose Saturday at 1 p.m. in a nonleague matchup.<\/p>\n

SOFTBALL<\/p>\n

Rifle 18, Eagle Valley 3, 3 innings<\/p>\n

Hosting the Eagle Valley Devils Tuesday night at Taugenbaugh Field in Rifle, the Rifle Bears softball team rolled to yet another lopsided win, downing the Devils in just 3 innings by a final of 18-3.<\/p>\n

Against Eagle Valley, senior Hannah Bodrogi recorded 2 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs batted in, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. On the mound, Bodrogi worked through 2 innings, allowing just one earned run.<\/p>\n

Junior Abigail Bonuales chipped in with 2 hits, a walk, 3 runs batted in, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases, while junior Delaney Phillips added 2 hits, 4 runs scored and 4 stolen bases in the blowout win.<\/p>\n

Junior Raelynn Hampton recorded 2 hits of her own, driving in a run while scoring 2 of her own, while senior Zoey Loya doubled, walked and drove in 2 runs.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Emma Poole added a single, walk and 2 runs scored, while freshman Hailey Worton singled, walked, drove in a run and scored a run.<\/p>\n

Rifle improves to 11-2 (4-0 in 4A WSL) play.<\/p>\n

The Bears travel to Gunnison Friday for a matchup with the Cowboys at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
