Making the 30-mile trip west on Interstate 70 Tuesday night for a 4A Western Slope League battle with the rival Rifle Bears, the Glenwood Springs Demons girls volleyball team stayed red-hot on the year, sweeping the Bears by scores of 25-6, 25-20, and 25-9.<\/p>\n

In the win over the Bears, Glenwood senior Emily Nilsson led the Demons with 27 assists and six aces, while senior Kaitlyn Johnson added 10 kills and eight digs.<\/p>\n

Senior Shanik Zambrano added five kills, three aces and 17 digs, while junior Reese Goluba added 24 digs.<\/p>\n

Freshman Siri Henderson made her varsity debut for Glenwood and added two kills and three digs.<\/p>\n

No individual stats were available for Rifle.<\/p>\n

The win pushes Glenwood to 11-3 on the season, including 7-0 in 4A WSL play. The loss drops Rifle to 3-13 (0-7 in 4A WSL) on the year. The Demons travel to Steamboat Springs Saturday, while Rifle hosts Palisade Thursday night.<\/p>\n

BOYS SOCCER<\/p>\n

Glenwood Springs 3, Eagle Valley 0<\/p>\n

Hosting the Eagle Valley Devils Tuesday night at Stubler Memorial Field, the Glenwood Springs Demons boys soccer team rolled to a 3-0 win, getting back on track in 4A Western Slope League play.<\/p>\n

Against the Devils, senior German Alvarado found the back of the net in the first half off of an assist from Raul Vargas.<\/p>\n

Junior Carlos Rodriguez and senior Justin Garces scored in the second half as Rodriguez assisted on Garces\u2019 tally.<\/p>\n

The Demons fired 14 shots on goal in the win and hit the post at least four times.<\/p>\n

The win sees Glenwood Springs improve 8-1-2 on the year, including 5-1-2 in 4A WSL action. The Demons travel to Palisade Wednesday afternoon for a league matchup with the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

Coal Ridge 3, Aspen 1<\/p>\n

Needing a win in a big way, the Coal Ridge Titans\u2019 boys soccer team got back on track Tuesday afternoon with a 3-1 win over the visiting Aspen Skiers, picking up its first win since Sept. 14.<\/p>\n

Against the Skiers, juniors Jack Price and Moises Contreras, and sophomore Eduardo Salazar scored one goal each, leading the Titans to the win.<\/p>\n

Senior Landon Stickler and freshman James Webber picked up one assist each for the Titans.<\/p>\n

In goal, junior Cody Connor added eight saves.<\/p>\n

The win sees Coal Ridge improve to 3-6-1 on the year, including 1-2 in 3A Western Slope League action.<\/p>\n

Coal Ridge travels to Moffat County next Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Roaring Fork 2, Vail Mountain 1<\/p>\n

Making the tough trip to Vail Tuesday afternoon for a league matchup with the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers, the Roaring Fork Rams\u2019 boys soccer team picked up an important 2-1 win to remain on top of the 3A Western Slope League standings.<\/p>\n

In the win over the Gore Rangers, Daniel Vega scored an unassisted goal, while Lucas Schramer scored off of an assist from Emi Magana.<\/p>\n

The win sees Roaring Fork improve to 7-1-1 on the season, including 2-0 in 3A WSL play.<\/p>\n

The Rams travel to Aspen Thursday for a league matchup with the Skiers.<\/p>\n
