Friday\u2019s fire was the third within a one-mile stretch in the area this week.<\/strong><br \/><em>Kyle Mills\/Post Independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Commuters traveling along Interstate 70 near the town of New Castle encountered yet another small fire Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Early Thursday, a brush fire burned a little over 1 acre on I-70\u2019s eastbound shoulder near New Castle at mile marker 107.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Friday\u2019s small fire sparked in a similar location near mile marker 105 also on Interstate 70\u2019s eastbound shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>According to Colorado River Fire Rescue spokeswoman Maria Pi\u00f1a, Friday\u2019s fire was approximately 300 feet long and 50 feet wide.<\/p>\n<p>The blaze, which shut down both of Interstate 70\u2019s eastbound lanes for roughly one hour, was reported at 7:59 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado River Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the fire by 9 a.m. with no injuries or property damage to report.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of Friday\u2019s fire was ruled undetermined.<\/p>\n<p>When questioned about the possibility of arson given the similar timeframe and location of the fires, Pi\u00f1a said that too was undetermined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Fire investigators] can\u2019t find any evidence of anything,\u201d Pi\u00f1a said.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/fire-sparks-near-new-castle-again-on-friday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investigators inspect the burn area along I-70 just east of New Castle Friday morning.
