{"id":1315951,"date":"2019-10-22T15:26:48","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T21:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/?p=989849"},"modified":"2019-10-22T15:26:48","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T21:26:48","slug":"crime-briefs-52000-in-a-ziploc-bag-and-meth-in-a-5-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kske\/local-news\/crime-briefs-52000-in-a-ziploc-bag-and-meth-in-a-5-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"CRIME BRIEFS: $52,000 in a Ziploc bag and meth in a $5 Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image p402_hide\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/10\/PI-crime-briefs-1small.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt=\"Post Independent crime briefs graphic\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/10\/PI-crime-briefs-1small.jpg 600w, https:\/\/cdn.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/10\/PI-crime-briefs-1small-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>MDMA PILLS AND $52,000 IN A ZIPLOC BAG<\/strong><br \/>On Oct. 21 a trooper with Colorado State Patrol pulled over a Toyota 4Runner along Interstate 70 at the No Name exit in Glenwood Canyon for speeding.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking with the 38-year-old driver, the trooper detected a \u201cmasking agent either cologne or air freshener\u201d emanating from the vehicle according to the arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>The subject informed the trooper of roughly an ounce of marijuana in his possession and stated that he was traveling back to California from \u201cDenver-Fort Morgan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The 38-year-old] seemed to think these cities were one in the same,\u201d the trooper noted in the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Upon informing the driver \u201cit was not very smart to be transporting marijuana through Utah,\u201d the man stated he \u201cthought it was legal everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The driver whose right hand was \u201cshaking uncontrollably\u201d and appeared \u201cvery nervous\u201d also could not provide a license.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the 38-year-old\u2019s suspicious behavior, a K9 officer with the Garfield County Sheriff\u2019s Department arrived on scene and gave a positive alert toward the vehicle\u2019s rear cargo area.<\/p>\n<p>Upon conducting a probable cause search, the trooper disassembled a speaker\/subwoofer box in the Toyota 4Runner\u2019s rear. Inside of the box the trooper located a tightly wrapped package with pills as well as a Ziploc bag \u201cfull of a significant amount of money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other than stating they were not prescription, the driver claimed not to know what type of pills were in the package.<\/p>\n<p>The total weight of the pills and packaging material was over 119 grams and tested presumptive positive for MDMA also commonly referred to as as ecstasy or molly.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the driver stated that he had worked for the $52,000 in the Ziploc bag.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old man was later booked into the Garfield County Jail on charges of possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance with intent and speeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>METH IN A $5 BILL<\/strong><br \/>On Oct. 18 at approximately 12:50 p.m. an officer with the New Castle Police Department noticed a man walking near Alder Ridge who had an active misdemeanor warrant out of Garfield County.<\/p>\n<p>Upon telling the subject that he needed to speak with him, the 38-year-old man purportedly asked the officer, \u201cif it could be another time because he had to go to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After informing the man of his active warrant, he became \u201cargumentative\u201d according to the arrest affidavit and stated that he had already seen his probation officer that day.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old was arrested and while searching him the officer located a folded $5 bill that contained \u201ca small baggie with a white cloudy crystalized substance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the arrest affidavit the substance turned positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was later transported to the Garfield County Jail where he was booked on a previous warrant in addition to possession of a controlled substance.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"mailto:mabennett@postindependent.com\">mabennett@postindependent.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/crime-briefs-52000-in-a-ziploc-bag-and-meth-in-a-5-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MDMA PILLS AND $52,000 IN A ZIPLOC BAGOn Oct. 21 a trooper with Colorado State Patrol pulled over a Toyota 4Runner along Interstate 70 at the No Name exit in Glenwood Canyon for speeding.
